Congratulations to Jeenathan on First Team honors. His work ethic has been evident in the transformation of his body and his skill development since coming in as a raw but super talented freshman. He's shooting 45.0% from 3 on 4.6 shots/game, second only to Shumate, which is incredible if you remember how inconsistent his shooting form was early in his career. For perspective, senior CJ shot 39.9% on 6.7 shots/game and senior Jerm shot 26.8% on 6.4 shots/game. He should have been shooting two of Brewton's threes every game, that's on the coaches. Just for fun, here's Jeenathan's current senior year (32.3 min, 19.2 pts, 5.0 reb, 2.8 ast, 1.4 stl, 0.8 blk, 2.8 to, 49.2/45.0/69.4) vs CJ's (32.4 min, 18.2 pts, 6.5 reb, 3.0 ast, 1.2 stl, 0.3 blk, 1.3 to, 46.3/39.9/78.0). Aside from TOs and FTs, which are acknowledged team-wide bugaboos, I always expected Nate to rack up more rebounds but never did the deep dive to understand why he didn't.

Congrats also to Rondo and Josh on Second Team honors, nothing to sneeze at in a challenging season that yielded some inconsistent results. Proud of all these guys.

One thing that stands out is Mballa.  Not sure that all the blame for his regression goes to Whitesell or even Mballa, as maybe there was an unseen reason, but we needed him to be first team and he wasn't.  If he plays anything close to what he did in Cleveland last year, we would be playing Toledo today with a good shot to win.

Agreed. When on his game, was unstoppable in this league. Something just has been off for most of the past 3 months. Struggled to grab boards/passes cleanly and that just didn't happen in the past

Whatever the reason(s) for Mballa’s struggles at times this year, they seemed to  be most prevalent vs the top 4 in the MAC. Going back thru the 6 games he played vs TOL, OU, KSU & AKR, he shot 31% (11% from 3), only 4/9 on FTs, and averaged 5.8 ppg and 7.7 rpg. Maybe those teams just did a better job defending him and keeping him off the glass than the bottom 7 did.

Just for comparison, there was no drop-off in Jeenathan’s numbers vs the top 4. In his 7 games played, he shot 50.5% (48.5% from 3), averaged 19.1 ppg and 6.1 rpg. Apart from his 3/22 anomaly vs Canisius, he was the picture of consistency all year but unfortunately just didn’t have enough help around him to get UB over the top.
