  1. It seems you are getting no joy from watching UB sports Root for Alabama football they lose once or twice a year that might make you happy. UB is like 99% of the other teams in college sports. Our football coach was hired in the week and a half before last season started, He is learning on the job give him a break Can you name another UB football coach that made a bowl game in his 2nd year. (You cannot) Our basketball program is playing fun basketball this year. Oats was great we cannot have coaches like that every time. We are a mid-major EVERY school goes through the same thing. If you want to donate millions of dollars to UB sports, you can have a say in who coaches. If you get no joy from something more on

  3. The expectations for football are completely unreasonable. We have arguably the worst stadium in FBS, no recruiting grounds, no history, we're in the worst state system (SUNY) for funding, and we're up against a rabid Bills fanbase in the second smallest NFL TV market in the country. Basketball, on the other hand, has the ability to compete. There's a proud history of college basketball in WNY, solid recruiting grounds, our arena is decent, and we were building a strong brand thanks to Oats. We're still up against SUNY's funding shit-show but football is consuming most of those resources. Right now, it's far more upsetting for me to see the basketball team getting blown out by mediocre competition in the 4th year of a ho-hum head coach than it is to see a football coach in his first full year go 6-6 and end up in a bowl game, even if the potential was there to do much more.

  4. This is my general takeaway as well. It's going to be a roller coaster type season. In the end, I hope there's more highs than lows and that they get hot heading into Cleveland. Much different mentality than past years for me personally.

  5. Isn’t that exactly what we did with Mo? And then everyone complains bc he’s learning on the job.

  6. Schmidt’s value may have dipped slightly but only slightly. I wonder why he hasn’t bolted to this point. He has had opportunities. But bringing it back to UB…we have to know our place in the world. As things stand we are a stepping stone school. So we should take pride in that. Bc that for two coaches brought us MAC titles and tournament appearances. An on campus basketball arena would go a long way also.

  7. Looks like UB picked up an experienced local guy for next season.

  8. Maybe redshirting Chatman so he can replace Harnett next year. Mading looked like he will contribute little this year in the early games. Good skills, but very weak. For as big as the roster is, this team is not a strong rebounding team and a turnover machine. Jones will need to score if they have any chance of winning the MAC. No one else on the team can be counted on to score consistently night after night.

  9. I might have missed someone else's comment, but they gave an injury report before the game and said that Chatman and Mading were playing for the scout team, are they both back for Ohio? That could give UB a boost offensively.

  10. Since you seem to know more than us would you like to spill the beans? Alabama has a bunch of guys in the portal as well. I'm not surprised at all that those kids want out after playing for that coach.
