  1. Yup. The dead horse has now been fully beaten up. Lock it down.
  2. Yeah, the MAC gets the money but the MAC gives the team that earned the money a bigger chunk. I believe 25% of the money goes directly to the university that earned it and the rest is split amongst the other members.
  3. So far today, not good. Wisc, LSU, FSU all escape with narrow victories.
  4. I agree with you and I don’t. This is a strange year for trying to rank the field. Almost every midmajor low major conference is down, outside a few teams (Zags, Nevada, UB, Wofford, Furman). We are looking at only the top 7 conferences getting multiple bids. Now those top 7 conferences don’t play anyone else when they can avoid it, or at least limit that exposure, so now when the seeding committee is looking at SOS, the Nevada’s, UBs and Woffords of the world can get buried because those conference tourneys are now all neutral court Q1 games. A team looking at a 7 seed from the ACC, B1G, BE, etc can make a conference tourney run and find themselves suddenly a 3 seed. Until the NCAA steps in and forces those teams to play OOC road games, this will always be the case. So we need there to be no surprises. if UB does get screwed on its seed, It will be fun to hear some P5 coach whine that they have to play US. “Not fair! How was a 30 win team a 6 seed?”... Because you had no business being a 3 dumbass....
  5. So for UB to get the best seed possible going into the tourney, teams to watch: please add, there’s probably dozens Wisconsin. They have Penn St today and also Iowa at home coming up. A home loss in either would be great. An early B1G tourney exit as well. Kansas St. please lose at home to Baylor today. Hell, lose out! Florida St. Two home games coming up as well (NCSt today). Getting upset in either would be nice but maybe better, a loss at Wake who is god awful and early ACC tourney exit. Maryland. My gut says they lose at home to Mich on Sunday and are less of a threat but still need to root for that loss and no B1G tourney run there either. Miss St. tough road week for them, hope they don’t pull any upsets. Then finish with TA&M at home. A loss there next Saturday would be nice. LSU, Cincinnati, Wofford, LSU, Auburn, Iowa ST, Louisville, Nevada are all on my radar. The B1G and B12 tournaments in particular will definitely have a huge impact on weather UB is a 4 or a 7. Love this time of year.
  6. It would be like throwing a birthday party at work! Except, it’s an ex coworker.... And he has to bring his new coworkers with him, but they have to watch from outside the conference room. Why can’t we just wait.
  7. Not sure UAB would like this too much. Mind if we borrow your coach?
  8. I pretty sure the police station is close to the arena/stadium by design. Why would moving it farther from where the majority of their job duties be better?
  9. Means they can start calling opponents bitch.
  10. Coach Jack is already in my Mt Rushmore of UB athletics. Not going to highjack the thread with the other 3 but we are extremely lucky to have her. I don’t live in the area so not going to throw attendance shade but fans only watching the men are missing out.
  11. MACWBB has earned the right for 3 seeds, maybe 4. We are in one of the premier women’s conferences in all of the NCAA.
  12. I also have a strange feeling about this one. Nothing would make me happier then our guys emphatically proving me wrong.
  13. Caruthers driving to the rim seeks out the contact. At one point last night dontay ran into a screener so violently that I look at my brother whom was already laughing and asked, can a defender running into a screen be a flagrant foul? The Akron big looked like he just took a cannonball to the gut Homer Simpson style. I wouldn’t want to have to ref and have to make calls with Dontay involved. Toughest guy on the court pretty much every game we’ve played. But impossible to ref.
  14. I miss rootie’s. Duffs, anchor etc... could not compare.
  15. On zipsnation.org a poster by the name NWAkron posted “Yeah. If per chance the Zips play the Bulls in the quarterfinals, I think I will pass on the trip to the Q. #othersideofbracket which would be a 6 or 7 seed.” 😂
  16. I hate the title of this thread. Cutting the baseball team was probably the right choice but it is still depressing.
  17. No dislike. Navigato made the right choice for Navigato. He would not of made a bunch of threes at UB. Because he would of barely seen the court. You have to play defense to play here.
  18. I posted on the original thread we needed to recruit ASU voters. Ah well... I’m still voting anyway.
  19. /start dream sequence Charity 3 on 3 game at Alumni in the summer 5 years from now. One sub. Hurley comes back and coaches a Navigato, Evans, O’Field, Graham and Frasco team Oats coaches Kadiri, Conner, Hamilton and Massinburg. Nikola maybe healthy enough to ref? we raise money for a (enter good cause here) and after the Oats 20 point beat down of the Hurley squad we spend weeks talking about our good fortune on this message board. Good times had by all. /end dream sequence
  20. Shhhhh.... your killing the media narrative. Just play along and laugh at Toledo. They do seem to love slow players. Their women’s team almost outdraws the men there, which I respect. But maybe they get confused on the recruiting end. Navigato would be a decent ladies D1 defender, average women D1 shooter tho...
  21. Twice now I voted for someone else just trying to scroll down to Oats. Be careful people.
  22. “Relax, I’m just putting my hair stylist’s business card in your back pocket. Act normal.”
  23. “I’ll get one of the graduate assistants to brush off your car if you spit that whistle out of your mouth.”
  24. Chicken or the egg questions are always fun. Yes, Hurley brought Oats here. Would UB of hired Oats without Hurley? We did hire a D3 football HC so who knows? I know that first taste of dancing would of had a much better flavor with Oats or Witherspoon at the helm. But we are where we are and I am grateful. I like good people. I like when good people succeed. Not saying Hurley is a bad person, just a whiny man child that is incredibly difficult to root for and the idea of him sculpting young men is terrifying.
  25. UB has to set the market and force a nice buyout for any school that wants to poach him. It’s just good business. Paying coach is either keeping him or getting paid to lose him. No brainer.
