  1. My guess is that they are already hard at work moving up that timeline. I could see both of them in the SEC by 2022 or 2023.
  2. I live in Texas these days and every school here thinks that they would be a great get for the SEC or PAC. Even Rice. It's like watching the NHL draft and every player mentioned on day 2 "...could have been a first round pick".

  4. I'll start it off and speculate that the University of Houston fights to get into the Big 12 and the AAC then looks to Buffalo. Or not...
  5. Two biggies from Big 12 sniffing around. Exclusive: Texas, Oklahoma reach out to SEC about joining conference https://www.houstonchronicle.com/texas-sports-nation/college/article/Texas-Oklahoma-reach-out-to-SEC-about-joining-16330080.php
  6. Auto correct got me. RMU. Not TMI. Sorry
  7. I keep hoping UB brings back hockey, but a story like this reminds us how expensive it is. https://www.prohockeyrumors.com/2021/05/robert-morris-university-terminates-hockey-programs.html

  9. I haven't worked overseas for a while, but if you are a US citizen, I'm pretty sure that you still need to be outside the country for a minimum of 330 days in a 12 month period to qualify for relief of a portion of your esrnings. And even then, the allowance is only for about the first $100,000 or so (the value is adjusted ever year). Anything above that is subject to normal federal tax. If, for some reason, you claim a domicile in a place with a state tax, you'd have to pay that along with any federal taxes. So, in short, that overseas paycheck is likely not "tax free".
  10. If I remember correctly, both didn't really excel until their senior season. Whatever happened to Xavier?
  11. A story about a UB graduate doing her residency in Houston. Young Houston doctor dies from COVID-19 https://www.houstonchronicle.com/news/houston-texas/houston/article/Young-Houston-doctor-dies-after-fighting-for-her-15581069.php It's not a game.
  12. An interesting take on it all. At least the lawyers will be suiting up this year. https://www.sportico.com/2020/leagues/college-sports/big-ten-guarantee-game-contracts-1234608982/ - College Football’s Million-Dollar Cancellations Have Small Schools on Edge
  13. LIU has announced the start of a Division I hockey team. They will be playing at the NY Islanders practice facility in Nassau County. "The newest team to college hockey is Long Island University-Brooklyn. The school surprised many when it announced in April that it would start a men’s program that would compete right away in 2020-21. LIU has been busy lately, hiring inaugural head coach Brett Riley and adding recruits left and right. However, few expect the Sharks to be competitive right away next season. Yet, Mark Divver reports that the program is putting together a strong schedule for their first season. While LIU will be an independent in their inaugural campaign and likely won’t be able to schedule a full Division I slate of games, Divver notes that the team is expected to play their first game against UMass Lowell and square off with Boston College, Boston University, and Wisconsin as well." The new coach even has some old ties to the Sabres. https://gocolgateraiders.com/staff-directory/brett-riley/534
  14. I'm just curious. Why would UB be in better position? I'm hoping that you're right though.
  15. This is great. Thanks. UB didn't have a football team when I was there so this allows me to live vicariously through history. Thanks again.
  16. If Luke Fickell leaves Cincy for Michigan State, then is LL a good fit in Cincinnati? I think yes. I'm not saying he gets the offer if it is there or takes the job, I just think it's another step up the ranks in an area of the country where he has professional and recruiting contacts.
  17. I'm not ex-military but I thought some others here might be interested in this patch https://www.govx.com/p/102094/govx-patch-of-the-month-mess-with-the-bull-get-the-horns (I'm not sure if you have to be registered with GOVX or not)
  18. I've often thought about a professional college football league. The university would spin off their profit making (or potentially profit making) team and license the rights to the university's name and logo. So the Ohio State Buckeyes would be a wholly own entity of the Ohio State University, but NOT a college team. The players would be paid without academic restrictions (though scholarships could be a team perk) and the fans could still root for the old Alma Mater. The league would be a little bit like a combination of the Big 10 and a working NFL minor leagues. Student Athletes would just be working athletes and get paid. Salary caps, signing rules, possible school subsidies and all of that would need to be worked out. I see it as more like hockey's junior leagues than baseball's minor leagues. Teams (schools) that don't make money could fold. The rest of the 18-21 year old football world, beyond the elite athlete, would still be good ole fashion amateur football. Hey I'm old. I like to dream.
  19. Hurley was supposedly a front runner for the DePaul job before turning to Arizona State. I think DePaul ended up bringing back a former head coach.I don't follow college basketball enough to know if that coach is still around, but it looks to me like DePaul has come further than Arizona State since the respective coaching changes. Just sayin'...
  20. $32 mill. Wow. https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/28199490/source-rutgers-bring-back-greg-schiano-second-stint-coach
  21. I kept wishing Massingburg was there to take control at the end of the game. Instead it was wild shots, forced shots and just terrible panicking shots. It's a long way to March though.
  22. After the bye week, anyone have any sense on who will be the starting QB going forward?
  23. Nice to see the old alma mater up in lights.
