  1. I'm not claiming it is the equivalent of twitter but it's still a public site that is the first thing that pops up when you google "Buffalo Bulls forums". We've heard of coaches and even recruits reading ubfan in the past to get a pulse on the community or inside info, so maybe we shouldn't assume it's nothing but "old diehards" using outdated social media.
  2. I wonder if Kidtrell was offended that someone made his big news public before he had a chance to announce it.
  3. I would absolutely love to steal their OC since their HC was such a dick to us.
  4. A big consideration that someone wrote on Bull Run is that Harbaugh is on the hot seat and with another subpar year he could be tossed which would likely mean his assistants are all out as well. In other words, Linguist might be guaranteed $690k this year but we might be able to entice him with a longer term guarantee despite a flat/lower annual dollar amount.
  5. Love Linguist but can we afford him? He's making $680k this year at Michigan.
  6. I will remember Lance for creating a team that won consistently in the MAC. I will also remember him for never winning a MAC title, for blowing huge leads in important games, for single-handedly killing Jaret Patterson's chance at the all-time NCAA record, for his inability to promote his players to NFL scouts, for his HORRIBLE start at Buffalo - taking a program that was 1-yr removed from being an 8-4 bowl team with Khalil Mack and Branden Oliver and turning it into a dumpster fire and one of the worst teams in the country by year 2, for his incredibly frustrating coordinators like Andy Kotelnicki who treated offensive plays like a Madden video game when he first got here, and for LOSING TO FREAKING ALBANY. Honestly, he was pretty much dead to me that day. I tried to like him again and I flew to the 2018 MAC Championship where he proceeded to lose me yet again with another epic collapse late in the game. I'm not sad he's gone, but I'm sad for our current players. These guy already went through spring ball and figured they were in the clear. Now they have no coaches and no clue what they're doing come September. This honestly may set us back a couple years. Thanks for trying to burn things to the ground on your way out, Lance.
  7. What a garbage move by both Lance and Kansas to completely screw us over this late in the game. We're pretty much in May and all of a sudden we have no coach. I'm happy he and his family got their payday, but I'll have no sympathy if he fails to win games at the worst P5 in the country.
  8. Apparently I am way behind on this news...whoops! Great pickup here. Welcome to Buffalo!
  9. Only fear with Battle coming here down the road is that he'll bring Reggie ball with him. I can't stand that system and would much prefer the current up-tempo style. We have outgrown the days where we needed endless perimeter screens to mitigate our lack of athletes.
  10. I'd be surprised if he decommitted after 5 days to attend one of the schools he already crossed off his list. My money is on a new P5 that entered into the mix after seeing him put up 41pts a few days ago.
  11. This has "big school came calling" written all over it. You don't drop after 5 days unless something else fell into place.
  12. SOURCE (who is nameless and may or may not be the drunk guy sleeping on my dorm room couch): Nick Saban would be receptive to the KU football job opening.
  13. This is the most bizarre transfer I've ever seen. If he didn't want to play for a P5, fine. I get it. You want to be the big fish in a small pond. But why choose the 319th ranked low-major on the other side of the country that hasn't been to the tournament in over 20 years? How in the world did they even get on his radar?? And why choose them over Buffalo where he could also be a big fish in a small pond, be the star future PG, and actually have a shot at getting to the NCAA tournament every year. Not to mention, attend school with his brother! Apparently that didn't play into the decision. If more details don't come out on this one I'm just going to chalk it up as a massive recruiting failure on our part. It's almost like our pitch was, "come to Buffalo. You won't be a star and we may not play you your first year, but your brother is on the football team".
  14. That's a bit of an understatement for the MAC Defensive POY and possibly our best defensive player this century.
  15. 1. First time on a message board? 2. He was definitely a part of the problem. He was supposed to dominate and he put up his worst shooting display of his career in both FG% and 3pt%. Out of our top-8 (90%+ of the scoring), he was second to last in FG%, second to last in 3pt%, and second to last in FT%. He also led the team in turnovers. In reality, his biggest contributions came from blocks and rebounding but he was a mess on the offensive end. He also chucked up a ton of shots. He attempted 128 threes this season which is over 25% of the total for the team despite having a worse 3pt% than everyone not named Mballa. And he attempted the second most free throws which may have actually been the most if he didn't shoot 50% and lose out on the back-end of countless 1-and-1s. He had a very rough final year and he left a TON of points on the table. I feel bad for him at this point because I know he must have hopes of continuing his career after Buffalo. Hopefully this was all temporary and he gets himself back in order for his future.
  16. Anyone have a picture of Preston in a bikini that we can break out to distract him?
  17. EDIT: Expanding on my original message. You only take a Kansas job if you don't think you're good enough to get to a real P5 job in the near future. It's not a stepping stone, it's a career ender. Turner Gill was only given 2 years before they fired him. I'd imagine if Lance went 2-10 in his second year with a loss to FCS Albany like he did at UB, he'd likely lose his job at Kansas. It's not saying he couldn't eventually right the ship and win a couple of games, I just doubt they'd give him a long enough fuse. If it's ONLY about money, take the money. Otherwise, wait a see what else opens up because there are always jobs available and pretty much all of them are better than Kansas.
  18. Full disclosure, I'm a massive Sabres fan. I just couldn't think of any teams that exemplified Kansas more than them.
  19. How many failed coaches can Kansas possibly have before these guys realize it's not worth it? Les Miles went 114-34 at LSU in the toughest conference in college football and then went 3-18 in two seasons at Kansas. Why would Leipold possibly want to leave to take that unwinnable challenge? He can make a ton of money, sure, but he sets his career back at least 5 years and then has to hope another Buffalo-level school comes calling. I think with another year of solid play at Buffalo he'll be seeing offers from schools MUCH more attractive than Kansas where he could actually win a few games and not destroy his upward trajectory. Kansas is the Buffalo Sabres of college football.
  20. I love all of these self-righteous Whitesell posts acting as though the criticism wasn't warranted after last year's debacle and an 0-7 start against teams with a pulse.
  21. I have to agree with Tee4three. The students pay a far heavier price than most fans to subsidize this program and they have been paying that money despite no games happening. They should get first priority. I also think a few hundred students could actually create a home court advantage.
  22. Honestly, I'd rather we brought back Reggie's old perimeter handoff offense than whatever the hell we're doing today. We have some serious talent and it shows when we get out in transition, but our half-court set is just a bunch of crappy isolation and hero ball. Whatever happened to kicking it out to the wing? It was the signature of the Hurley/Oats era. Slashers drove the rim and if defenders collapsed they kicked it back outside. Now our players just drive into traffic repeatedly and get swarmed. Sure, our good ones find ways to score sometimes like Jeenathan, Mballa, and Segu, but the others just turn the ball over or chuck up an ugly shot. It's such a big difference in the gameplan from what we were doing just 2 years ago.
