  1. Today
  2. Nice to finally get something official on Cage leaving and I'm glad it seems amicable. Just a nitpick, but I can't stand GH3's quotes having exclamation points throughout. It reeks of rah rah amateurism for me.
  3. I love Seinfeld, so I guess I’ll just root for blue.
  4. As Seinfeld said, you are rooting for laundry.
  5. I thought this was a nice article and love that GH3 was complimentary of Calvin and he’s leaving on a positive note and can be closer to family. Hopefully the new guy can bring something to the table: https://ubbulls.com/news/2024/5/2/mens-basketball-mens-basketball-announces-coaching-addition-and-changes.aspx
  6. Nuts may be a severe understatement. These mid-majors struggle to put asses in the seats. People don’t want to pay $300 for season tickets, now you ask them to shell out a few hundred a month to go to players, then those same players don’t even stay 4 years so you’re really not even rooting for individuals. If someone took this idea to the bank for financing, you would get laughed out of the facility.
  7. I would welcome him back for depth if nothing else, but the rest of the team may not be as welcoming after he quit on them.
  8. Yesterday
  9. Shaun was awesome. But I’d prefer Red Murdock’s athleticism to him.
  10. Being a mid major is brutal rn. Gotta hope things change, but the portal is nuts.
  11. So I’m guessing he didn’t actually get any NIL so at best he made a lateral move to follow someone that didn’t know he was on thin ice. Poor decision making at many levels
  12. Just crazy how this system is. Transfer out after the season, sign somewhere, then leave out before even getting out of the current academic year. I'd imagine the D coach who was from UB, who was let go from Utah State influenced the decision, but still, this whole system is such a joke. "Good" teams just buy the best players, no players (or coaches) have the slightest bit of loyalty to a school/team ever. Just call it what it is, semi-pro sports or minor league sports, or something along those lines. This is no way student-athlete/academic driven to be bouncing around year after year, so get rid of the whole nonsense of it all, at least in football/basketball (and maybe some of the other sports, although I don't follow them as closely to know the % of transfers year over year). I wish him the best regardless, he gave plenty to UB over the years (should've stayed however).
  13. I would think yes. However is sounds like it can be easily abused for things like fraud and money laundering
  14. Can’t do that unless they’re employees. And once that happens the anti non-compete laws kick in. Are you withholding payment until the end of term? Good luck. That said, this is stupid.
  15. Here's a look at the official collective numbers from last year for all of the MAC programs: https://nil-ncaa.com/mac/ This breaks it down P5 vs. G5: https://nil-ncaa.com/ The MAC is super far behind their G5 peers: https://nil-ncaa.com/group5/
  16. Revenue sharing is coming if the NCAA wants to survive in my opinion Other options are gonna start to pop up, a major advantage the NCAA has is that it's already set up and already has money/revenue
  17. I saw a headline today that the NCAA might revenue share with athletes. Wonder how that would work and if that would “level the playing field”. Doubt it. I’ve said it and I agree with others, once funders realize they aren’t getting bang for their buck they will make deals multi year contracts.
  18. This got me thinking is there rules about this What is stopping a collective being a straight work around to paying athletes from the school? True blue gives away a good amount of t shirts for free, I always just assumed that's what my student fee was for (half a joke) Could the collective buy/make all the true blue shirt give aways, then sell them to true blue?
  19. Next step will be one year contracts of some sort. Might end up like the NFL and instead of scholarships just do annual contracts. That would ultimately benefit the coaches once it’s figured out, cut the dead wood and stockpile talent with no salary cap
  20. In that instance there is less control of what happens next as they can also just walk away
  21. Last week
  22. I mentioned this as well. There is nothing about any of us from stuffing a envelope full of cash and giving to to a player, for pretty much any reason.
  23. This. No prohibits players from going on and getting their own endorsements. Most players have NIL agents. The ideal situation is when collectives and local business come together and work deals and have deals at the ready for players.
  24. While you are looking for more information, you do know that NIL money does not have to go through a collective. You could sign a player to an endorsement deal directly. You do not think that State Farm went through a collective when they signed the deal with Caitlin Clark, do you?
  25. Boom!!! Former Ohio WR Jacoby Jones Announces He’ll Transfer To UCF!!! Jones Caught 45 Passes For 776 Yards & 6 TDs in 2022 The hits just keep coming with the Portal!
