  1. Winning should be the only option if the team intends to compete this season.

  3. I have much less experience as a Knicks fan, only been following for the last 20 or so years when I got into the NBA. But having UB basketball has been amazing for the past decade, I finally have a consistently competitive basketball team to follow.

  5. Gaba was big as mentioned on the glass and with the blocks. Remember she is also getting minutes bc Summer is gone and Christie is hurt. This team is on the younger side but has already showed much promise and chemistry. The men were at the game last night...they should take note.

  7. Did my preview for the website last night. Mballa has a nice matchup against a lanky 6’10’’ freshman who isn’t very fleet of foot. Good bounce back spot for Graves as well with his matchup. Jordan vs Malik Johnson should be fun!

  8. Gaba had a great game on the boards and on the defensive end. Her offensive game will come. She's 18 and still learning, but has already improved over the first half of the season. She will be a mainstay for the front line of this team.

  9. Exciting finish. I thought Dayton 3’s would kill us. Hannah looked like she suffered a hip strain after her collision (on a very iffy blocking foul call) but seemed to be ready to re-enter if needed in the last few minutes. Maybe biggest shot of game was the late FT that put us ahead by 7 points, 3 possessions, in the final half minute.

  10. I’m sorry but I think recruits pay attention to who makes the tournament more than anything. Then facilities and exposure. I don’t think they care about a ranking system in which most ppl can’t understand the math behind it. As for the rankings...ours would be higher had we handled business. It’s a shame. But numbers can be manipulated to fit any argument. For example we play at one of the best tempos yet we turn the ball over a ton. The reality is we need to start growing and start winning. The MAC, as supported by the metrics, will be tougher. Time to start becoming consistent as we finish out non conference and begin conference play.

  11. I read the comments of our coach after the loss. He seemed to realize that this was going to be a tough game to get his guys ready for...and he failed. Jordan also commented that they weren’t necessarily ready to play and didn’t respect the opponent. To me, both of these comments are troubling. Whitesell REALLY needed strong team leadership to offset what he doesn’t bring to the table. And he doesn’t have it. He may be a great coach in some areas and a fine teacher, but he could not coax out the required effort on defense against inferior opponents at home. Oats was a fiery guy. Whitesell is clearly not that and, at 60 in a few days, he is who he is. Not every successful coach has to be the fiery guy, but he has to figure out how to get his team to respond. He seemed to know this Army game was going to be a problem, but was not successful in what he did to address it before or during the game. He and his staff have work to do.
