  1. I would take a shot on him, not great numbers but he was only a freshman so the potential is still there. He would be the highest rated recruit to ever play for UB I think.
  2. If this happens I would really hope that we don't lose our big games against temas like Syracuse, Marquette, Vandy, etc
  3. So no news on Bertram and/or Fagan? We kept hearing that one or both of them was likely to transfer, but I haven't seen either enter the portal.
  4. I will be rooting for him now, except for when he plays us obviously.
  5. If we get Graves back, I see no reason why we should not be the favorite next year. A lot of the best players in the MAC graduated this year and a few transferred.
  6. We are the best option of those schools, probably the hardest to get playing time though.
  7. I agree with most of what you said. All good on the rant, that’s what this place is for. Specifically on Whitesell, I also have questioned some of his decisions but I also admit that he knows way more about basketball than me. I think he definitely has a couple of major pros/cons that stood out after the first season. Pro: The players seem to really like him, I think it is a good look for our program to have no outgoing transfers at this point (not counting Bivens because I think he was non-scholarship) Con: the energy level is just not there. Maybe we are just used to Oats and Hurley who are firecrackers, but he is too quiet. Pro: In a year where we lost 5 of our top 7 players, we still came out with 20 wins and tied for the 3rd best record in conference. If this is our floor, that isn’t too shabby. Con: we supposedly had the most talent in the MAC this season if you go strictly off rankings. But our team didn’t play like it. Pro: He initially pulled in Chanse and Josiah who are highly rated. Josiah decommitted but based on leaving his high school it sounds like there might be other stuff going on. Con: I think we still haven’t replaced Hunter, not sure what they are waiting for on that front.
  8. Yeah, we might start seeing a bunch of Mballa's.
  9. Should we assume none of our players are transferring at this point? Not sure why they would wait to announce it if they were.
  10. Say what you want about about whitesell, but the players seem to like him enough to stay.
  11. Wow that is huge. I am surprised we haven't heard anything about our players yet.
  12. Ruptured his achilles after 8 games in 2017 and was given a medical redshirt.
  13. I think he will be back next season. If CJ didn’t get drafted last year, there is no way Graves gets drafted this year.
  14. Wichita State had 5 players enter the portal. That would suck if the same thing happened to us.
  15. Okay, all fair points. Let’s hope Whitesell can figure it out next year and our key pieces come back with a vengeance.
  16. I agree that this season wouldn't have you feeling the same way as last season obviously, but no one knows why he decommitted. He left a better high school team to go to a worse one, so clearly winning isn't the cause of him transferring. You are assuming that we didn't win enough and that is why he decommitted. What do you mean what does 20 wins get you? This was a better record than Oats first 2 years, and actually reminds me of his second year team who went 17-15. That year we had Massinburg and Perkins as Sophomores who began to become main contributors on the team, just like Williams, Mballa, and Segu did this year. I genuinely want to know what was the benchmark for you to be happy with this season. Was it a certain amount of wins? A conference championship? Or just what you saw/didn't see in the coach? I have said since the beginning that I will try to refrain from putting too much blame on Whitesell until this time next year, if we do not progress then I will agree with many of your criticisms.
  17. I just said I wonder if recruits check the board. Calm down.
  18. We were 20-12 this season. You guys are acting like we went 12-20.
  19. I always wonder if recruits and players check this board and see all the negativity. I'm sure they check twitter and see it there. If I was a recruit and read that Whitesell thread I know I would second guess my decision.
  20. The kid left his top tier high school to go to a below .500 high school closer to home. I would bet that this is a personal issue, which I do not blame him for. What evidence is piling high? He is the first decommit.
  21. Is he definitely transferring?
  22. I honestly think it is just that today's college age kids (especially those at a mid major) just don't care as much about seeing games in person, and definitely don't like to be loud if they do go. We didn't have a ton of success at the end of the Witherspoon era but were still able to get the whole student section to chant "Stainbrook has a mangina". We once had DJ Cooper so mad that he ran over and stole a sign we made of him. Ah the good ol days.
  23. While I agree that the lineups can be rough at times, I do think it is mostly that we just don't have a better option. We had 5 "trustworthy" players this year Segu-Jordan-Graves-Williams-Mballa. As much as people would like it, you can't play that lineup for 40 mins per game. They will get tired and end up not performing as well.
  24. I feel like Segu, Graves, Williams, and Mballa are locked in. That is unless Whitesell continues to bring Mballa in as the 6th man. Gallion might be a surprise starter at the 3 next year. He looked decent in a small sample size this year.
