MillenniumBull
Well certainly Rick Majerus. Yes, basketball is tougher it seems but your leaving out the Nick Sabans of the world. There are more...

Sure, they could have won against anyone. But they didn't win against Minnesota, UAB, Clemson, Georgetown, and Duke that year. Maybe if they would have been challenged after the new year they would have won it. BEING in a weak conference can be a blessing but it can also be a curse. You think it is easier to win at Wichita State than Nebraska? If Gregg Marshall were at Nebraska he would have more success than at Wichita State. The same is true of Gonzaga, Butler, and Buffalo. Elite coaches are held back by these teams. They also have safe jobs and fans are more forgiving.

Seems many in the conference want to get rid of their “Reggie”. Oats may have done more for the conference then anyone person in decades.

Saul out, Hawkins likely out. Who else do you see out?

More resources in a down PAC 12 with UB's best player, and UB lost their 2nd best player to discipline, and somehow Oats has out preformed him every year at UB. Hurley is a good coach and if he stays, we keep Nate as top assistant, so I assume we'd be better. So yes I think Hurley would have performed as well or better if he stayed... MillenniumBull
I can’t imagine a young man who has done any research would rather be around Hurley over Oats. Yay, you have the name recognition. But Hurley is still a man baby. Recruiting has been better since he left. And I watched one of the Duke/NC games on ESPNU from the Hurley days. Bobby back then would see zero minutes on this year’s UB team.

MillenniumBull
No. But Hurley wasn’t bringing to BUFFALO any guards drafted 7th overall either. But I’ll take who Oats brought to UB over who Hurley brought to UB. Comparing apples to apples instead of oranges.
MillenniumBull
Oh. Hurley’s draft position. Yeah, Hurley couldn’t get the ball up the court on Jordan or Caruthers if they were told to not let him. The level of athleticism is totally different. I bet Jordan can drive a motor vehicle better too. Ok that was over the top... posting anyway. UB85
Bobby is an enigma. As a player he was a great team player at least at Duke. For some reason, perhaps the NBA influence, he did not coach that way.
pottier25
Bobby Hurley was an all time great in college. With all due respect to our current players none of them are Bobby Hurley.

True, but we showed the love and increased that buyout. I still think Nate is sticking around.
