So my guess is these players going to schools that are a step up in conference like the SEC aren’t necessarily going for the best school or winning program, it’s probably the school with the best opportunity to play the most minutes. (Or the most NIL cash) The game has sure changed. Mid major programs are taking hits now every year and why hasn’t anyone made a big deal about it?

I agree. Hope Watt plays. I think he’d fit in perfectly with Perkins in the low post. He’s more versatile then Mcrea in my opinion. Even thought he doesn’t have a connection to most of the players he would start and make us a favorite to win it all. Graves is prob a lock to play.

Just add Watt and Graves. Also, don’t add any players outside UB. Stick to our players.

Wes was an all time transfer. He was a perfect fit for our program and he played at a high level from the beginning.

Ha can it get any worse? JW says hold my beer. I’ll let my best remaining player for next year enter the portal because he can see what a sheet show it’s going to be. All the playing time in the world is not enough to be on this team next year.

I’m talking long term not upcoming season…

Any chance that this means more UB vs Cuse games at least on the ladies side going forward? I know Boehiem is afraid of us.

No citation needed. Our recruiting has regressed. It’s not even average. I bet others on here agree.

Would it be that big of a deal if we started over with a new coaching staff over this offseason? I mean we have half the team leaving because of graduation and our recruiting pipeline is less than average so why not make the big move now. Why prolong the rebuild another year or two? It’s not going to get any better. Let’s cut our losses and be bold by moving on. I don’t care about his contract. Pay the buy out. We were cheap in the beginning by hiring him so paying him the buyout would basically payback what a top earning coach would have been paid during the last few years. Do it. Let’s close this chapter. Move on. I don’t want to be stuck in mediocrity. Go bulls.

So….no CBI, CIT or whatever toilet bowl tournament that is left wanted us or maybe we were too cheap to play in?

Honestly we need to look at the players to take part of the blame too. It’s no way a means of knocking them for not trying. But the Hurley and Oats teams where different because they had players who played with a chip on their shoulder and fire. I really did not get a sense of that from Williams or Mballa. Segu showed some fight but he wasn’t much of a factor. When we recruit going forward we need players who dive on the floor, are scrappy and play defense with intensity. Also those that are clutch and want to propel their team to the win. I just don’t think these seniors were ever wired like that which lead to a mediocre season. Just an observation

Bryant and Stratton has my attention. Powerhouse is an understatement. 2nd place not too far behind is The CC of Erie.

Do you think Reggie gets another year at Canisius?

I think we all need to settle down. Bowling Green is not a good team. Yeah they played good against them but so did the other 14 teams that beat BG. All that matters is winning the conference tourney.

I remember when I posted after the Canisius loss. I said at that time for us to begin to realize we are on the decline and our best days with this program were behind us. I got ripped by some people here saying the sky is falling well how about now? This team is a shell of its self, the coach shouldn’t be a HC, the AD shouldn’t be an AD and the leaders of UB have no clue or maybe desire to run a top performing athletics department that can sustain a winning culture. Is winning the past 5 years was a bonus for them. Change the expectations and pay to play to take this to the next level.

Here’s my take on Hurley. He was successful at UB because he was a bold hire at the time and he used his glory days at Duke to help bring in recruits. He was effective because he was at a mid-major and he was able to get middle of the road high major players. Once he got the coaching job at the high major school, he still recruited mid level high major players which no longer cut it at this high level where he’s at today. So here he is today as an average coach with average recruits for his level at ASU.

I know we brought this up before but do we even have a team next year? Honest question. What’s our starting 5 next season? It’s going to be brutal.

That’s it. I can’t take it anymore. I’ve decided to join the fan portal. I’m taking my fan talents elsewhere. First and foremost, I’d like to thank God, the coaches, players, Victor E Bull, Elmo’s for their wings and the rest of the UB community for the last 10 years as a loyal fan. I felt this is the best situation for me and my family that I move on. With that being said I will now be a fan of….any other team but UB. Please respect my decision.

Tough watching another former Bull play for another school this year. Tonight Jacob Gall started at center for 7th ranked Baylor against Ole Miss in the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans. I don’t think some people knew how good we had it with Lance. He ran a quiet and efficient program with solid recruiting and had good game management.

So glad I didn’t watch this game. Sounds like from the comments the refs screwed us again. Ohio and MAC refs are two reasons we need to get out of this conference. What a joke of a league.

This portal thing is a game changer. There is no loyalty anymore and we are seeing basically short term careers of players at UB. Saw McDuffie enter the portal now too. I’m not a fan of this portal but can’t root against players doing what’s best for them and to find better situations if possible for their careers.

Pathetic. Let’s start over next year. I bet this Coaching job will get a ton more attention then last time and I have no idea how we messed it up before. Maybe we need to pay more. Be ready to start the search right after the season ends in the first round at home at the on campus game. Then hire a well known name that is has played the game like Gerry McNamara or a former NBA player or a top HS or AAU coach. Be bold and get a name that can attract recruits. This program should not be in decline but growing into an every top mid major. I hate it when people on here mock those who expect more and there is nothing wrong with having high standards and expectations. Let’s turn the page soon and start fresh.
