  1. No Hodgson. The dude was recruiting for Bama while he was still employed by UB. Would a company hire someone back that left to go to another company, and took company assets with him. This really is no different. I also wonder what makes anyone think that Hodgson would be a good HC. He was a good recruiter, I'll give him that, but no indication of anything more than that.

  2. He probably saw the secondary here and knew UB football was a bad business decision. Two good recruits gone. Coach Mo has a lot of offseason work ahead of him to get this program heading back upwards. Because they have been spiraling down.

  4. Guys this is nothing new having our best big man come off the bench.. His name was Nick Perkins. Did LaQuill play great on Monday... yeah he was pretty good, but he also had four fouls in less than 18 minutes so you have to pick and choose his minutes. Brock played eight minutes and Skogman 18 minutes.. So he still played by far the least amount of minutes of anyone. We get so caught up on who starts a game... we need to make sure our best players are around to finish the game and right now I don't believe LaQuill would be around at the end of the game if he started. He just fouls way too much.

  5. Play down to Canisius’ level for 35 minutes, and then finish ‘strong like Bull’. ?!?

  6. On page 6 of the game notes. There is a link to a pdf file in each of the preview articles. https://ubbulls.com/news/2021/11/14/football-bulls-conclude-home-slate-against-northern-illinois-on-wednesday.aspx

  7. Does Brock draw that many fouls though? It seems he is usually the one fouling

  8. Just start Hardnett going forward. I don’t care how tall the other player on the other team is. Brock can’t jump anyway.

  10. If they are more interested in standing on someone else's shoulders, let them go. I'd rather keep recruits who want to build something themselves. (of course ideally I'd like both traits... good and motivated)

  11. The around the MAC thread seems to have vanished, so posting top 8 composite rankings as of today. Impartial observers have us more or less rated equally with Ohio at this point at top of the MAC, although Ohio has a larger range. Next pack of Miami, Toledo, Akron and Kent. Bowling Green has struggled early this year and is moving to be more in pack with Ball State and the CMU, EMU, WMU, and NIU. I am still thinking 21-8 at this point and a dogfight between us and Ohio.

  12. I don't know who you are, but if you haven't followed this particular board recently (let's say the past year) in basketball, you are not allowed to have this perspective. There are many people on the board, basketball in particular, who broker no dissension when it comes to anything negative about this coach. Heck...all you had to do was follow the game thread yesterday and you see several people who delighted in pouncing later and after the victory on those who were critical of the team during the game and, especially, the coach. Just follow the game thread (and this thread) and you can tell who they are. It is a microcosm of society at the moment. In fact, many people (like myself) who have contributed to this board for a long time have gone away (or are silent) since criticality is met with attack (or something derisive or sarcastic). I, personally, have promised not to comment on the coach (or, basically, the basketball team) on this board until the current coach is no longer the coach. This was back in March or so. I don't consider this message to you to be about the coach or the team, just the dynamics of the board. Obviously you sense something about the current board and the treatment of dissension since you posted a clear disclaimer, though (as I mentioned above) you are not allowed to have this perspective (at least from many posters...or much posters). Your question is a legit one -- good ADs should have this stuff already figured out now, rather than what we went through a few years ago. I suspect our AD has learned from this previous experience (after all, you should learn from experience) and has a plan. Thus, getting inside his head (which is what you are trying to do here) is a reasonable question. I do hope others on the board with knowledge about the staff can provide their perspectives on this interesting question.

  13. My takeaways from the first couple of games: -There were questions about who would step up and be a closer, Segu and Williams to me look like two guys that can get and make their own shot. Graves was a good player, but I don't think him being a creator was ever the best role for him. -I had concerns about Jack stepping in for Graves, but I think being a better shooter + lower usage is a better fit in an offense with the Big 3. He's rebounding at about the same rate, I still need to see more defensively -I'm not concerned about style points in the North Texas game. Their brand of basketball is winning rock fights. They were a top 50 defense last year and 350/357 in pace. There were 65 possessions last night, the last time we played such a slow paced game was against Coppin St. 12/10/2016. That's a style of game we've struggled with for the past 5 years, and we came out with a win on the road. I'll take it. -Hardnett being back is big, he doesn't post the rebounding numbers that Mballa does, so he doesn't get the love, but I think he's the best defender on the team. I'd like to see Mballa/Skogman split the 5, and Hardnett/Mballa split the 4. I like Brock but he's not one of our top guys, so if everyone's healthy I don't think he needs to start. One of my main criticisms of Whitesell is that he tries to match other teams rather than making them match us. Oats played 6'7" Jeremy Harris against 7'1" DeAndre Ayton, we don't need to be trotting Brock out just because the other team has someone 6'10"+
