  1. Also welcome back and looking forward to your updates. We need more people like you to be able to spread the word about local college basketball. Go Bulls!!!!
  2. Do agree. The layout of the arena makes that type of atmosphere.I don’t think Alumni can do anything to enhance that except to have a full house and continue to play an exciting brand of winning basketball. Go Bulls!!!!
  3. Like I said earlier this team is so different than the previous team with Reid, Oursler, Suchan and Ups. We became spoiled for four years. I still have faith in this coaching staff and team. But it is a total different experience for both the coaches and players. The jury is still out on many of these players and I know it is still early. No one on this team is close to the ability of Reid and Oursler right now. Our family will be supporting the team and have faith that our success will continue. Go Bulls!!!!!
  4. Agree with UB85. Alumni is good as far as sight lines and when it is has the 4,000 to 6,000 range it is a great atmosphere especially with the student sections filled. The concession experience and the prices are what could use fixing. Also not sure what can be done but the parking situation has become very bad now that more fans are coming to games. If UB is really interested in some changes perhaps a survey questionnaire to fans could be a possibility. The one venue that is good is at St. Bona and again the atmosphere there is great as we have been there many times over the years. Agree that if we continue with sustained success and with more fans KitKat could be the ticket for changes to be made by UB. Go Bulls!!!!
  5. Game recap. Oregon 102 UB 82. Not surprised at the result. After the Niagara game Coach Jack said - They are trying to figure out the rotation and asked the fans to stick with us and give us some time. As I said earlier with Hemphill out we are going to have a tough time in many games. Dillard played the whole game with 32 points but 2-10 from the 3 point line. Wilkins had 19 points and 5-11 from the 3 point line. But only one rebound. Morrison was in foul trouble with only two points and played only 10 minutes. Hanna Hall looks like she will be given every chance to be our point guard but is going to have big time growing pains. She scored five points but only 1-7 from the field and 1-5 from the 3 point line and played 36 minutes. Both Autumn Jones and Marissa Hamilton contributed little again. One promising stat was the play of Keowa Walters the 6-3 freshman forward from Canada who played 24 minutes and was 7-10 from the field and scored 16 points with 7 rebounds. With no experience at both point guard and forward/center we are going to struggle. We were out scored by 10 points in both the 1st and 3rd quarters but were even in scoring in the 2nd and 4th quarters. Hope for some victories in their next road games and Go Bulls!!!!
  6. I agree also and was pleasantly surprised. Schoop gave me a whole different perspective of WGR. He was right on with why college sports is not talked about as much as the pro sports. That is the local media’s utopia and their meal ticket!!! But maybe the scene is changing and it all boils down to how well the UB teams are doing with basketball and football. The general population has been fed so much hype about the pro sports scene that the college sports have been put aside. Times they are changing and it takes fans like us on the ubfan.com to spread the news and support our teams. Go Bulls!!!!
  7. Don’t think we need alcohol at the venues. The point I have made in the past is the concession experience is slow and not managed the right way at all at the basketball games. How would it be when adding alcohol sales???? Go Bulls!!!!
  8. A nice crowd for the first game despite UB football being on ESPN2. A very uneven game against a very mediocre Niagara team. Without Dillard who knows what the outcome could of been. Dillard only scored eight points in the first half and only up by six points. Hanna Hall showed more smarts but theDicksons players looked lost. With Hemphill out until mid December there is no defensive, rebounding presence. It is going to be very interesting to see how these players can mesh together especially when they play against better competition. Keeping the positive vibes. Go Bulls!!!!
  9. An embarrassing display. How can some of the players say “they were flat”???? Too many players reading their press notices and the coaching staff really blew it big time. All the positives they achieved are gone when they get beat like that. There is no guarantee they can just turn it on against Bowling Green who they have had problems with despite their record. You are only as good as your last game. I was planning on going to Ford Field but all has been put on hold. Jackson reading his press clippings of being able to play in th NFL. Hoping the players were read the riot act by the coaching staff. Trying to keep the faith!! Go Bulls!!!
  10. Have not heard why Niagara is not on the schedule??? No matter how good we become St.Bona, Canisius and Niagara should always be on the schedule. Hopefully someone in the UB admin can give an answer. Go Bulls!!!!
  11. Totally agree Joseph!! With our success it seems we are getting more press nationally but more important locally. The local radio stations are the ones that need to get on board. All you hear are Bills and Sabres. We continue to pass the word to friends and family and talk to UB marketing and the local media about UB sports. One source of concern and it is more of a pet peeve is the concession prices and how long it takes to be served. Also the parking has become a nightmare with increased attendance. Hope the UB admin can address these concerns. Go Bulls!!!!
  12. Congrats to the team and what is happening across the board in not only basketball but football and some of the other sports like tennis the momentum really seems to be building. We are a family that has promoted not only UB but has enjoyed the local college scene for many, many years. Until the last five years or so our family has not been active on social media but we are now. Their is no other scene like the college venue as we have attended games at St. Bona, Canisius and Niagara and now as season ticket holders at UB know when our team is competitive and good and the house is packed it is just a great atmosphere. Along with my brother and I we now have my other family menbers along with my children who graduated from UB following and attending games. We started out as two strong going to Cleveland and are now at 6 to 8 strong and counting. We remember the college sports scene in the days of the old Aud and the buzz of college basketball. Although the culture has drastically changed we see a buildup of interest and excitement. Let’s keep it going and support all our teams. Hope to be at Ford Field and Cleveland for the MAC championships. Hope to see many more fans at Wed’s women’s game and raiseing the banner.Go Bulls!!!!!!
  13. A great team win with many players contributing. What I see is players not hanging their heads if not making shots or having a tough game. The coaching staff has instilled in the players the confidence to play hard for 40 minutes and play together. In large part that comes with having success and knowing you can win and compete if you never give up. Just a great accomplishment for the program to be in the top 25 and positive vibes for the entire university. Let’s get out to all the games and show our support for all aour teams. Go Bulls!!!!
  14. A tough first game but a win is a win. It is only one game but a few observations. It is going to take some time for this new group of players and the players from last year who did not get a lot of playing time to form a cohesive group. Finess Dickson will become our point guard. Both Autumn Jones and Marissa Hamilton have to show some offensive ability - they were 0-10 from the field. Brittany Morrison has to show a defensive and rebounding presence. The absence of Summer Hemphill until the end of December is going to be a factor on both the defense and offense side with nobody able to make up for her absence. If Wilkins or Dillard have off games or play limited minutes with foul trouble we could be in trouble. Fans in the know knew this was going to be a very different type of team with all the roles of players changing. Hope for a big crowd at Wed’s game against Niigata. Go Bulls!!!!
  15. Another big time commit and just shows how far the program has come to attract talented athletic players. Go Bulls!!!!
  16. Congrats to the entire team. Unbelievable how far the team has come kin the last few years.Hope for bigger crowds for the next home games and more media exposure from our local news both print and on local radio. Go Bulls!!!
  17. It should be another good test for us and hopefully Nate has the players attention on playing the full 40 minutes. Hope for better games from Caruthers and Harris and Perkins to stay out of foul trouble. Very promising to see that the foul shooting is better than last year at this time. Rebounding and defense and keeping the turnovers down could be the key to a win. Go Bulls!!
  18. A good test for the first game. Do agree it will take some time to see how all the pieces will fit. Both Graves and Carruthers looked much improved from the free throw line. Still concerned with Graves not being able to knock down outside shots and McCrea not helping on the defensive or rebounding side. If Fagan and Bertram can help in the front court at all it will be a plus. I think Jordan could be the key on how the offense goes. Segu and Williams show promise but time will tell when they come up against more athletic quick players. Yes we did not shoot well from 3 point line but the shots were there. I agree we won the game because of our defensive pressure especially in the last 15 minutes of the game. Looking forward to the next two games and to see how the team responds to the defensive pressure. Go Bulls!!!
  19. Thought something was up when Summer came out in sweats. She did not look happy to say the least. I know the players are ultimately responsible for their academics but I thought the coaching staff had in place academics counselors and staff that check on all players academics???? But not knowing all the details if there was personal problems or other factors it is still disappointing to say the least. Our family was looking for big things from Summer this year. Hope for the best for Summer and Go Bulls!!!
  20. Finess Dickson was granted a medical hardship waiver from Memphis. She had a season ending injury after four games. She is playing as a redshirt freshman and is a walk-on. Finess looks like the point guard for the future. Against Bloomsburg she showed quickness and decent ball handling ability and had five steals. The newcomers playing on the front line had a rough game on the offensive side. Summer was not suited up for the game and have not heard if she has an injury??? Dillard had a great game both offensively and on the defense end. The team sure looks different without Reid and the other seniors that graduated. Go Bulls!!!!
  21. Wow!! A great team win on the national stage. Agree UB has to figure out the special teams. AJ is a big time receiver but the tailbacks are really good and are all underclassmen. Hoping we can make it to the MAC championship at Ford Field. I will be there. Go Bulls!!!
  22. Jordan’s ankle injury did not look too serious and did not seem to be hobbling around and I believe Coach Oats said they want to have him ready for the St.Francis game. Glad to see Coach Oats gave Segu and Williams a lot of minutes against Daemen. It will take some time to see how they can adapt to the better, quicker players in the MAC. I don’t think neither of them had to play much defense in high school and both of them seemed winded at times. It is good that neither of them seemed shy about taking shots. If Williams isn’t scoring from the outside I wonder if he has any kind of inside game. Still a concern about Graves though. Did not shoot well from the outside last year and did not shoot well at all against Daemen. He goes to the basket and can dunk. Hoping for improved front court play from McCrea and Bertram. Go Bulls!!!
  23. Interested to see how manny minutes Williams plays. He really looks like the real deal. How did Segu do and did he play a lot of minutes?? Go Bulls!!
  24. IT is going to be exciting who will come forward to play the point guard position. Will it be one of the Dickson players or Hanna Hall or a combination of all?? Dillard will be needed to score and not use up all her energy playing point guard even though she did play some point last year when Reid was out. I think the big key will be how the new front court players fit in with the returning players. Go Bulls!!
  25. Thanks for the info BullBoy. A relief that all seems okay. Go Bulls!!
