  1. The 2-deep is...well making the best of it. Offense basically the same except Nick Hartnett starting at Center. Cook still out, Snyder's game with only DePillo behind him. DL no issues except no Kante at DE, McNair starting for Cobb at Nickle. DB's no depth with future potential playmakers Cuffey and Devin Grant with their first starts. So they have to become current playmakers.
  2. Division 1 Conference Championship winning teams 1991-2003 [Bill Greiner]- 10 (All ECC and Mid-Con titles, none MAC) 2003-2010 [Simpson] - 2 MAC 2011-Present [Tripathi] - 17 MAC (and 1 Individual NCAA T&F champion)
  3. Best local tv ratings in the MAC, no P5 that owns WNY, and the largest MAC fanbase based on many studies. At one time, nobody could have imagined Rutgers to the Big10 or Cincy to the Big 12.
  4. CUSA is not going to be something special next season when they lose their best teams/markets. No MAC team was going to accept joining that dumpster fire Judy has brought into existence. Liberty was not wanted by any other league. They can pay a coach $4mm due to their online diploma-mill budget, and wanting to be the Evangelical version of ND/BYU/Baylor. They will own the depleted CUSA, with some resistance from La Tech and WKU. SBC did very well with who they brought in, dumping Little Rock/TX-Arlington, and it was humble pie for Southern Miss. fans who thought for the past decade they were bound for the AAC. MAC is steady as they only want WKU and MTSU. JMU and ODU were going with Marshall, and no way MAC/Herd #3. If MTSU was not gun-shy about losing out on all that yummy exit fee revenue they would have jumped to the MAC with WKU. And, in time, they still might. The MAC wont expand just to expand, or else a blunder like adding EKU or YSU would occur. Delaware has brought up FBS again but would be an outlier. Stony Brook has budget tightening and seems destined to just settle in a CAA mid-regional core with Delaware, Hofstra, Drexel and Towson. Even if the MAC takes on 2 more the big MAC issue is, only UB is increasing its enrollment/budget/endowment. Best case for us is 1) Big10 takes no other PAC12 schools 2) The ACC GOR opens up early legally or waiting it out 3) Big10 and SEC want to go MEGA and take the best properties from the ACC (Clemson, FSU, UVA, UNC, Miami, ND, NCST, GT) and 4) WVU, Cincy, UCF are just happy in the Big12, which has a nice media deal even with losing TX and OK. Then we have a shot at the ACC academic snobbish leftovers really needing 6-10 football schools. AAC just wants to be another southern-markets G5 league above the other 2, to the chagrin of Temple and Navy.
  5. Pre-game radio said Myers is injured. So no secret weapon this game, only 1.0 yard per carry. With no Cook or Al-Jay, only Washington-of-the-2-fumbles, Ahmed, and a walk-on I had to look up (who ended up with 1 of 2 running 1st downs on the day). We all long for the fun games when the O was a dynamic 30+ ppg with long runs and Gassett gadget passes. O-Line is healthy but just isn't helping things either with untimely holds and some poor communication on blocking and assignments. So many drops early, or the completion %age would look somewhat better. Marshall saved us just as I wondered where he disappeared to the last few games; he was really due. Offord was picked on badly but our other star D players rose up just when it was needed. Agreed, a win is a win, a bowl was the logical goal for this season, and we succeeded. Better than 2015, losing 3 straight and a 5-7 dud. Not better than 2017 6-6, no bowl, but we won 3 to end the year and, along with the snub, fueled us to 10 wins. Not sure what 2022 leads us to next in 2023.
  6. Post-Game interview was all over the place. Peck asks about this pattern close-out issues. Mo comes back with; 1) It is a process, young players learning from this, watch the film and learn (Uh, hello! It's game 11 and we roll out a lot of vets. If he had just said missing Cook and Gassett is very tough to replace on O, I could go for that) 2) I am the head coach so any blame on me, not the players (He got that one right, in part) 3) If we don't have the players for the scheme then we find the players who can fit (There is the other part of the correct answer)
  7. Why didn't they just judge the risks and move it to Rochester, like to St John Fisher? If good enough for the Bills to practice/scrimmage, not good enough for a makeshift, broadcasted FBS game?
  8. MAC Champs! Dominating game to match a dominating string of wins this season. So sweet after the heartbreak last season, our 2nd MAC title, first since 2014.
  9. Pretty close. Today it is Jo Smith, Adams, Powell, Foster, Curtis Jones. I think Chatman is still recovering from injury, or else he'd be starting.
  10. Definitely showed they are still a high-level D2 program. We kept our starters out there a lot but can't blame them for protecting the lead and working out as a fresh squad. Winfield took some time to get going but an impressive game. Young did her thing and the front line of Johnson and Mashaire look pretty good, Depth will be an issue but glad we got to 60 points and improved in the 3rd and 4th Quarters.
  11. The game notes don't contain starting 5 lineups for either team, just the rosters. So wait and see. Daemen's starting lineup in their exhibition lose at The Palestra [74-41] were 5'9" 6'3" 6'4" 6'5 6' 5". They didn't shoot well at all. Always interesting with local kids like Summer's brother, D1 transfers and Coach MacDonald's son via the Purple Eagles. Their women's team has Summer on the bench and Steve McDuffie's daughter, and they get to play at Michigan after us.
  12. Glad we have extra time to rest. Lenzi in the BN listed the following out prior to Toledo: Blades, Oliver, Sidney Walker (right arm in a sling), Pollizzi, Ruiz, Weitz, Laborn, and Michel. Though in Maniac's awesome Halloween practice interviews today, Michel was in pads.
  13. Great BN story on how this happened. Originally from the 60's. Fuller made the right choice, and ADMA said the 2nd choice would not have been close, more "goat like" in his words. The quotes from the players are great. The overall attention from this and the players are hyped to wear these on Saturday https://buffalonews.com/sports/college/ubs-throwback-bulls-logo-creates-buzz-for-football-athletics/article_a025934e-4f29-11ed-b4fb-3fe7a8fb52c5.html
  14. I don't believe they do. It hasn't worked in a while. I've been using the web version of the Varsity app through the UB athletics site.
  15. I listened to the radio team and the way they said it was over at kickoff, kind of boring game for them, I loved it! Reminded me of how they talked when we dominated from 2018-2020. Even as we started 0-3 and we questioned, Mo stayed the course. His tone in the post-game has changed. Keeping players heads in the game with "we want to win this week, be 1-0 for the week" and that they focus on reviewing the mistakes and learning from them, not focusing a lot on the successes. And they have done that with cutting down the penalties, OLine playing as one, more solid D. The INT's and many near INT's yesterday, need cleaning up. Back to back games of 7 points allowed is amazing. What's weird is, the view was BGSU had no drive in them at home, yet they had great offensive games earlier and gutted it out vs Miami. UMass just doesn't have the players and we lived in their backfield. So it shows our D can stymy in different ways; one, a good offense, with causing turnovers and another, suffocating a bad O-line.
  16. Post game interview Coach Mo said they have practiced hail mary D at least 10 times, end of practices. Said they were ready but had a breakdown, watch the tape and study blah blah. Based on Patterson's quotes, they were coached to have only 1 man jump for the ball, all others defend the goal line/tackle/grab a deflection. As we saw 4 jumped. Self over team on that play, both vets and young DB's. Not good. And rushing 3 on a hail mary play..why do coaches still do this?1?! Each time I watch the play I see Dolac coached to retreat, then shadow Sluka...from 20 yards away. What good did that do? Better to rush 4-5 and if Sluka runs, a lot more difficult throw. Instead we had players coached to defend no man's land and Sluka winds up to heave, no problem.
  17. Based on the BN stories and practice images, I like the line in front of Snyder. It should be a decent unit as the season progresses and helps out Snyder's transition. LT Wright LG Wallace C Hasz RG Hartnett RT Bessent
  18. My Sr year we won 4 with a limited-scholarship-count, SR/JR roster of transfers lead by Campbell and... blahhhh. Right before the Battle/Bortz/Bird/Gilbert class stepped in. I gotta hope our current freshmen have a similar pedigree to that one. Get them all into next year's rotation with (most likely) Hardnett, Perry, some transfers and 1-2 additional freshmen. Try to at least make top 8 in the MAC, which would be a big goal at this point. Then hope 2024 is like our first 3 NCAA teams which were mostly lead by Junior-class talents, with a few Sr's, Soph, Frosh.
  19. Holding out hope for a return, like we saw with Marks/McDuffie who were wooed but saw UB was the best for their future. If not, oof is right on. It would be the most impactful young, big man transfer since B.J. Walker. Or Roets in the 90's moving to D2 Gannon.
  20. WVU - I was born in southern WV coal country, closer to Va Tech but strong 'eers fans even with the distance, few Hokies fans. I remember wanting to punch my TV when the Domers beat Major Harris in the Fiesta bowl. Learned to hate Pitt and SU before I even knew UB existed. Loved WVU football in the Big East. I got to see UB football get edged in the Dome, but happily return to SU later that season when Pat White/Steve Slaton ran over the Orange. My passion declined sharply with the Big 12 move. Why would I care to play OSU, Iowa St, even Texas? Unnatural realignment. WVU basketball was barely anything in the 80's, and I used to think, "Why the heck are we playing Bonnies and Duquesne?!" Loved the BE move. Was hard to see WVU play UB in 2015 but fully I support UB sports when played against WVU. It was funny for a few years when UB (alma mater), WVU (first love), and Hartwick College (I spent my teen years in Oneonta) all played MAC soccer. Minor cheering for Cornell (sister attended). Used to like Marshall when they were winning 1AA championships for West Virginia pride but once they joined the MAC I dropped them fast.
  21. Colgate is in, a gimme in the 2022 PL, matching their expectations.
  22. The spring roster is up, with a grain of salt of course, as rosters are still fluid. We can see several more walk-ons aren't back in 2022 as well, so there are only 86 on the current roster for spring camp. Hartnett and 5 other scholarship guys for fall camp, so an additional 15-20 rides/walk-ons added before fall camp. Mo is right.. Not done yet! So cool that our heart and soul MLB is back as a Grad student! LB corps isn't deep with Patterson, Dolac, Tate tops at this time. So they either grab more transfers or plan to run out a lot of nickel packages.
  23. A bigger, left handed replacement for Aaron Chase for the practice squad, essentially.
  24. So far not too bad, Camp and Fair no shots, both with 3 assists, Woolley on fire.
  25. Christie starting, curious to see how we play this one if any foul trouble pops up.
