When UB hit the red zone, was hoping they’d keep JP in there. It was a lock they would bulldoze it in. (as Marks did on the very next play). He should have the single game NCAA record for rushing yards and TDs. That would’ve stood for a while and be really cool for the program and even recruits to see. But can’t blame people for being upset for LL for taking out Patterson, they wanted to see UB in the record books bigtime and pretty awesome to say we have the most touchdowns and rushing yards in a game ever in history!! I saw Lance’s presser after the game. He was not aware of the records and Jaret being able to break both. He strongly suggested he would have kept him in the game had he known. In one sense it is likely a good thing he didn’t know, but on the other given the game was well in hand it is a shame the info wasn’t radioed down to him so he at least could have made an informed judgment call. Breaking both records would have been a great reward for Jaret and the O line while putting UB football in the board with some real significant records. So at at least my view that was a win win win situation for Jaret, the O line and UB football. With that said there is next week. Let’s crush the bob kittens. Yeah- after reading quotes from LL after the game and some other media calls, he clearly did not know how close JP was to busting those amazing records. He said he wished he would have known (which leads us to believe he would've let Patterson finish off that last TD drive). Which begs the question, doesn't the UB SID or some other coaches in the booth know what's going on? I think it woulda' been ok if someone tried hard to get a message to Lance. Buy hey, anyone who watches and cares about UB football knows how great of a coach LL is and the quality program he runs. He's been such a pleasure to watch...from his very first game as a Freshman there was something about him. He always runs hard and makes guys miss. He is an inspiration. Certainly the line is special as well, so that was a known. The combination has been record-breaking. In the game against Miami, they worked hard to stack the box and take Patterson away. He had 73 yards on 20 carries (though Marks did the damage). They said "Vantrease"...beat us. And he did, throwing for 353 yards and 4 TD.
