You can only go so far without having any bench help when it really matters. The Bulls have no bench help. That really hurts.

Tonight wasn’t about the bench. Look around the MAC, no one has a bench. Not Ohio not us not Toledo. It’s about the starters and their effort and intensity. We came out with none. No defense, too many turnovers no attention to detail.

Many have said that the Bulls didn’t bring defensive intensity tonight. The opponent scored 92 points. I said the Bulls’ defense wasn’t to blame. stand corrected. However, this game could have been played 100 times, and the Rockets would have won at least 99 times. Toledo is a better team. Guys were making mid-range fade-away jumpers, 3 pointers with a hand in the face, and give and go plays. Once again - Toledo is a better team because their players are better athletically than the Bulls.

Segu is telling people he may play next year.

If his goal is the NBA, he seems like someone that would benefit another year in school.

But sadly I don't know if it makes sense at ub from his point of view. Would hope it is at ub though

Sorry but Segu won’t ever make the nba. Not bc of lack of talent but he is too tiny. His shots often get blocked in the paint and he looks like he struggles to shoot 3s. Not an NBA player. Overseas I can see that.

They did though. UB shot literally their average. Toledo a few points higher.

On a closer look, UB shot almost 2% below their average but right at their average from 3. Toledo averages 48% overall and 35.5% from 3, tonight they were at 53% overall and same from 3. Shoot their average from 3 and that cuts 9/17 down to 6/17.  Another big difference tonight was as the FT line, 11 pt advantage for the Rockets at 15/19 to just 4/6 for UB.

Change those numbers around if we’re lucky enough to play them again, and maybe the Bulls stand a chance.  Just trying to spin a little positivity here.  Go Bulls!

We are a good MAC team....nothing more, nothing less. Based on the salary for our head coach, we are getting a good value for Coach Whitesell. We have some really good players but as many have already mentioned, the lack of any bench production has been a major problem all year.

A head scratcher why he sat so much.

It felt like Toledo went small and Whitesell tried to match it, moving Skogman to the bench. I would have liked to see him force Toledo to try to match up with our size instead, but admittedly their cadre of 6'4 guards were blowing by our size on drives.

Not disagreeing but if his opinion or goal is nba or g league his best route would be through college in my opinion

The first matchup with them they got to the line a lot too. We have to ask why? This needs to be scouted bc we may face them again. Also as @MuchManysaid, we tried to match them. That’s poor coaching. Stick to what we do best. Try to impose our style of play. Be proactive. Film review and game prep has to be better if we see them again.

But he played Hardnett though? So thats not why.

Hardnett is a weird 6'7 tweener 4. Skogman is a true 6'10 5 man. Different players, different skillsets. I assume Whitesell thought Hardnett's mobility would be useful while still contributing some rebounding. It didn't. Our offensive rebounding dried up in the first half during Toldeo's big run and that is what keyed our offense during our strong February.

I don’t disagree. But if he comes back…is it with us or the portal?

If he does use his extra year

Minutes still to be had here so that gives ub a chance

But I see him going the way of Jackson from Toledo last season leaving for a power conference team

Speaking of which imagine this Toledo team with him

When hardnett first came in he brought some much needed energy and made a couple defensive stops

Honestly probably should have used both hardnett and skogman together more. Both had what seemed positive plays

Disappointing game. Started off with the nice 3 and then went downhill from there. UB didn't play poorly, toledo just played better today. Need to bounce back and win Friday and then there's a chance. If not, it's extremely tough sledding. Regroup, beat kent, face a lesser opponent in round 1, a reeling ohio team in round 2 and then it comes down to one game. Such an errie situation,  so similar to last years 9 out of 10 wins, with the only loss to this toledo squad at home.  Other than shooting %, stats were relatively equal tonight, they just hit em.

Love the optimism. But this game erased all the vibes of February. But as you said…anything goes in Cleveland. Just have a have a well timed 3 game win streak.

If they win Friday, then it's a whole new ballgame next week. If not, the good vibes of Feb are definitely looking at the pink end of a #2 pencil.

It's one game. While some on here will likely comment that this always happens against the top teams, it's still only one game. Ohio lost to a lesser team tonight. Let's hope Boals gets canned then.

In the end, just win the next one. That has to be the mindset the rest of the way.
