Game Day vs Niagara 7pm

Sometimes coaching careers at a school are short, so even though this is only the 12th D1 opponent for this coach, a lot points to this being an important game for him.

The oddsmakers have UB favored by 3.5.   The team is coming off an interesting loss in Richmond where they had both Adams and Graham...with a late surge making the margin of defeat smaller than the game flow would indicate (UB scored six points in a ten minute span in that second half).   Graham only showed up on the boards, grabbing 6 rebounds but going 0-7 from the field in 21 minutes.   Surprisingly (and encouragingly), the Bulls only had six turnovers the entire game.

If UB is ever going to put together a complete game this season, here is their best opportunity so far (and, perhaps, for the rest of the year).

Who knows what this is going to look like tonight.  Niagara isn't a good team, but have been in some games.   Anything is possible here...UB could win by 19 or lose by 19...and anything in between.   Let's hope for the former!!

Go Bulls.

I always think that it is more important to look at a span of games, but this game does seem more important than most.  A one to two possession win bolsters case that the team has improved slightly from early November, but still needs more improvement.  It would be nice if they can win a bit more comfortably, as this will likely mean they have had a better shooting night along with the improved ball handling and defense of recent games.  As for a loss, I personally don't want to dwell on that possibility 🙂.

One hundred percent agree. I feel that if Halcovage was even a half-decent coach, he would’ve been able to recruit a team that is capable of winning just one D1 game and even if the talent isn’t there able to coach a team to 1 D1 win

I’ve held off on commenting about men’s hoops because i feel the new coach needed a fair chance to get this club to jell or whatever. But losing to a lousy Niagara team at home, even after being up by 10 at the half?!?  nah, this has to change. Either this coach is terrible or they recruited terrible players…which is still on the coach.  The AD needs to answer to this too. UB men’s basketball was the one shining star of athletics and they are literally worst in the country at their level.

It’s time to accept if you haven’t already that this team may be the absolute worst in D1 basketball. Recruiting seems non-existent. Not sure what Halcovage is doing right, if he’s doing anything at all.

We absolutely need to address Alnutt before we even consider looking at the current MBB coaching staff.
