  2. That’s a bummer. This was the only UB basketball that was worth watching these days.

  3. Also, I think this is another indictment about Mo and hopefully good news about Pete and the culture he’s creating.

  4. If they liked him before, they don't care. It's not like he went to Akron or another Mac school Most players would understand he was doing what he thought was best for his future

  5. I think Red Murdock may have something to say about that. The dude has been all over the field.

  6. Save your breath. Focus on those that want to be part of the solutions. There are plenty of people ready to poke holes in those of us that want to try to Move these sports forward. no collective = Buffalo sucks and they are falling behind. Also make sure to attack the admin for doing nothing to advance NIL even though they are independent entities collective setup = attack those volunteers willing to administer it, also attack the administration for having undue influence. Also, make sure you bitch about who gets or doesn’t get money from said collective

  7. If people didn't like Isaiah Adams' rebounding/defensive effort they are going to hate Noah Batchelor at the 4. His career defensive rebound rate at Maryland was 11.1%, his block rate was 0.9% Adams last year was at 12.3% and 1.3%, for his career at UB he was at 13.8% and 1.6% Offensively, Batchelor was 3 for 4 at the rim in his career at Maryland (only 5.1% of his FGA). Nothing about Batchelor is a 4 other than his height at 6'6", which is small even for the MAC

  8. Only we can get a collective going and still bitch and complain.

  9. I believe that is accurate. I also think it’s by design. Fulcher was a late add last year and staff was probably hoping for the best, but in my opinion, his departure doesn’t bother me, especially if a solid PF can be found.

  10. He’ll be the best linebacker on our team this year

  11. I thought this was a nice article and love that GH3 was complimentary of Calvin and he’s leaving on a positive note and can be closer to family. Hopefully the new guy can bring something to the table: https://ubbulls.com/news/2024/5/2/mens-basketball-mens-basketball-announces-coaching-addition-and-changes.aspx

  12. So I’m guessing he didn’t actually get any NIL so at best he made a lateral move to follow someone that didn’t know he was on thin ice. Poor decision making at many levels

  13. Here's a look at the official collective numbers from last year for all of the MAC programs: https://nil-ncaa.com/mac/ This breaks it down P5 vs. G5: https://nil-ncaa.com/ The MAC is super far behind their G5 peers: https://nil-ncaa.com/group5/

  16. There's rumors circling about UB adding a quarterback... I haven't heard anything validating it though.

  17. Can't blame him, he wasn't going to be the guy here. I hope he finds a place he can play and flourish.

  18. It's probably hyperbole, but we haven't publicly landed anyone who had a Top 3/5/whatever and picked UB. Tyson Dunn - no other D1 offers Ryan Sabol - no other D1 offers Lloyd McVeigh - no other D1 offers Bryson Wilson - 1 D1 offer in 2020, 2 other D1 offers from service academies in 2023 Ben Michaels - no other D1 offers Tim Oboh - no other D1 offers Kavon Bradford - no other D1 offers Sam Akot - no other D1 offers Brayden Jackson - no other D1 offers within 10 months of committing. Unlikely any were commitable but maybe Halcovage won here Anquan Boldin - A couple D1 offers, notably EMU. Probably a recruiting win Shawn Fulcher - had some low major offers, we won this battle it seems and he was one of the worst players in the country Transfers are ambiguous, they have long "interest" lists, but who knows on offers. Armani Mighty had a visit at Towson so I'll credit Halcovage with a win here. I'll give Halcovage 3.5 recruiting wins. Now offers we had out that went to other D1 schools instead: Alex Massung Braden Hausen Richard Brisco Amarri Tice Ma'Kye Taylor Josh Reed Samson Reilly Angelo Ciaravino Jack Graham Isaiah Fields Sultan Adewale A host of transfer "interests" These are just the ones with updates on our recruiting forum, I could be missing some. Not to mention all the Whitesell players he failed to re-recruit

  19. It appears that the Cage replacement is... another former Villanova walk-on with no coaching experience:

  20. Ok...Graham was bad and is not with us anymore. Sometimes players don't work out. Yeah, Sabol and Williamson had very comparable seasons (0.6 vs 0.8 PRPG!) so I compared them. They were both on bad teams, with UB being worse (the fact that Sabol kept his head above water in our mess of a season is impressive). Again, no one thinks our recruiting is impressive right now, but this kid just doesn't matter. I just don't know why anyone would be hand-wringing over a low level transfer to Niagara in our transfer thread. But I'll be right there with y'all on Niagara Scenic Parkway for the parade.

  22. A donor to UB or any other charity has the right to designate how the donation is used. If you want money used for a particular sport or academic unit, that is how the money is to be spent. One of my early donations to UB was to fund a device to be used to safely remove an injured football player from the field. The money was held for that purpose, for years, until I told them they could use the money for anything else with football. Therefore, you could limit your donation to people on the men's basketball team. Depending on the level of work required, there is no reason why a volunteer cannot do all that is necessary. Much of the background work is done by Blue Print Sports. https://www.blueprintsports.com/client-services I would assume that St. Bonaventure would comply with the Internal Revenue Code. Adjuncts do not make that much money. A believe that a 1099 does not have to be filed if the money paid is under $600.00 Ask them. I can tell you that the two former football players are both very involved in donating to and working with Athletics and have been for years. Ask them. Since the corporation is not affiliated with UB I doubt it is controlled by Alnutt or the Foundation, ask them. 23. So basically, from your post announcement posts, it appears as if you will only donate to a collective that has your wishes at stake and will allocate the funds in a way that you deem to be appropriate. Before you open your wallet to your self controlled collective let me know so that I can protect my clothing by buying mothballs first.

  26. There is still one player to add, but I would not be surprised to see all preseason rankings showing little change from this past season. Halcovage has added players that I would imagine are hard to predict how they will play. Ultimately we may see, next March, they were spot on and that you are right about Halcovage. I approach being a fan a little differently than you. I am going to hope for the best. That means improved shooting from 3, fewer turnovers, better defense (critical!) and a more team oriented approach. I will wait to see if my hope is rewarded. Time will tell.

  27. Does this mean there are 2 layers of administration of this money? Looks like this is a St. Bonaventure Business instructor (with a misspelling of her title on the school's official web site), a venture capitalist, a business consultant, a chemist (?), and a lawyer. Would seem like a bunch of people that would want to take some of that donation money.

  30. You could very well be right and I am rooting for them either way, because they are UB Bulls now. We drove JW into the ground and it's counterproductive. If GH3 fails, it's sad and not good for anyone, so I want him to do well. Hopefully this group has they types of players, with they type of character GH3 and the staff were looking for to run whatever offensive/defensive system they were hoping to do.

  31. I know that suggesting that conference administrators might actually care and pay attention, is risky. Having said that, I have to believe that when they strike the schedule, they will allow UMass to keep a "PayDay" game....flip a coin whether it's Mizzou or Caitlyn's alma mater,...........
