zigo230
Watched the first half and they looked pretty good. Better then i expected, except the 3 point shooting. Bad night or are these guys are just lousy 3 pt shooters?

As a younger coach I would’ve hoped that was something of Jay Wright’s that he’d abandon but I guess we’re stuck with it I haven't paid enough attention to it but 100 percent agree it should be something he gets away from
Bluebird96
Terrible last 3:00 of game time as a 6-pt deficit with under 1:00 before the half has rapidly become 17 Edited December 6, 2023 by Bluebird96
Tee4three
Butler changed up their pace and it absolutely put ub in a blender The speed up got UB to get back into their playground offense Edited December 6, 2023 by Tee4three
Tee4three
UB needs to play at their steady methodical pace, going quick when the lane is actually there

Every 3 we get is off a dribble or just shooting over the top
Tee4three
What happened, no communication no talking, no working, just watching hoping someone makes a play one on one Hell just saw all 5 guys avoid picking up the ball handler

When you get in that foul mode and the refs know your number, getting the 3rd within a couple minutes is very common. It’s a good strategy actually. If you don’t have a player or two on the bench that can offer a spark, that’s a bigger problem. Borrowing some items from a national championship coach isn’t a bad thing. Not getting your best players on the floor is not good coaching. Possessions count the same no matter when they occur. If you don’t foul out and you sat because of “foul trouble” then you wasted some X possessions on the bench. The other major difference you might notice is that Villanova had talent in spades and UB has 2 D1 frontcourt players. If a player is fouling due to fatigue, frustration or something that can be coached it makes sense to briefly pull them. “Foul mode” is not a thing that requires sitting a half. Let’s pretend UB was playing in the MAC Championship against Ohio and the MAC decided they wanted an Ohio school to win. The MAC decides that UB’s players foul out of the first half with two fouls but Ohio’s do not. You think that’s fine? That’s what our coach’s official strategy is in a game that he is a 24 point underdog in Edited December 6, 2023 by trueblue32

Ubbullsfan09
Already seeing improvement in this team. We can definitely pick up at least a couple MAC wins if we play with this much intensity throughout the year
squire17
Your shot might be off, but defensive intensity should be there 40 minutes every game. No excuses

Ubbullsfan09
Crucial turnovers down the stretch. Hit a few threes and don’t allow those turnovers and we have a one score ballgame right now
Bluebird96
Credit where it’s due, Bulls have fought back hard but Butler doing the little things to not let us get too close. Good learning experience for this team

Worse teams than “unprepared” Butler have slapped a basic 1-2-2 on and beat the brakes off this team so it’s progress

Finished with the same 2 fouls he picked up in the first few minutes of the game. Hindsight now, but an extra 8-10 minutes of game time from Chatman might have helped the Bulls keep this closer in the end.
