  1. Putting on my optimist hat, I think Brewton and Jack will find their shots. They just have to wait for open looks and take advantage. With teams having to focus on Williams, Segu, and Mballa those looks like come. It seemed like after the first couple misses they started forcing them up, either trying to cut the deficit or find their rhythm. Unfortunately it just wasn’t there yesterday. I also think minutes will get spread out more as the season goes on. Whitesell wasn’t going to throw any of the new guys to the wolves against Michigan. it was also maybe best opportunity Segu and Williams will have to put their skills on tape against higher level competition. Williams especially putting up 32 and looking like the best player on the court will go a long way to showing scouts what he’s got. I’d be surprised to see them play the same amount of minutes against say an SFA or UCI

  2. Quality start to the second half. They look energized

  3. Lexi McNabb, 5'5" G out of Arizona. Their visit this weekend to the football game sealed the deal. She has won a state championship and besides her father, her mother played WBB at SU,, cousin of Darnell Nurse of the Oilers and another cousin played in the WNBA. Superstar bloodlines.

  4. I watched the game and was impressed with the toughness of the team in the second half. Dickinson was gonna get his I expected that going into the game. In order to beat a team like Michigan on the road you have to shot a good clip from 3 and we just did not do that at all. Was really disappointed with Maceo Jack and Brewton. Combined 2-12 from 3pt line and supposed to be there game. The shots were also good takes and some were wide open, just missed. Need better play out of both of them. Segu also can’t play 38 minutes a game, Curtis Jones or someone else needs to play a bigger role, need Segu to have fresh legs in crunch time. I expect a better shooting performance against North Texas.

  7. Well, Coach (coming to reason) had this team as pumped up for this game as a person going into a root canal. We played scared the entire first half and we forgot that the basis of our fast-paced offense was stout defense. I would do just about anything for a Dontay Caruthers or an Andy Robinson. Those type of guys are the only reason we won games.

  8. Watching Mballa try to prove his wing skills for scouts this year could be painful at times. Very loose with his footwork and then jacking step back 3s 🙄

  9. Do not need Mballa shooting the 3.

  10. We have Brian Plummer who was last year's big pickup. Hopefully he can grab the reigns. Casey Case is also a Redshirt Freshman. Hopefully one of them can become the man. We will see on December 15 what Coach Mo is bringing to the table. He's touted as a big time recruiter, let's see what he brings in. I looked at LL current recruit list. Looks a lot like what a UB recruiting class would be like.

  11. We're all excited for this season, but signing day yesterday has been looking forward as well. 173 of 200 minutes (81.5%) of minutes vs Michigan were handled by seniors. Segu, Mballa, Williams, Bertram, Fagan, Brewton, Jack, Bivens and maybe Perry will/may all be moving on after the season. Crazy to think that Rondo and Nate are seniors already, but Covid has warped time a bit for me. Next year and beyond, Hardnett will fit into this when healthy, as will Skogman and the freshman class (which I really like). Still, we have massive minutes and opportunity to offer guys in 2022 with only Devin Ceaser committed. PG is probably set but unproven with Curtis Jones and incoming Ceaser. Very early, but I liked Jones vs Medaille and can see him as a fine starter next year with a tightened up handle at 6'5. A veteran combo guard transfer who can run some point would be ideal. We need scoring guard help badly (we need it this year too unfortunately imo). Blocker is a nice piece with high potential. Targets Prather (announcing this weekend) and Rigsby would address this need, as would a transfer combo guard. Adding a dead-eye shooter who is passable on D has been a need for a couple seasons now. While Kuluel seems like a nice fit to roll into some of Jeenathan's minutes next year, I'm hoping we can attract another top-150 guy (like Nate and Kuluel) by showing them Jeenathan's film and 4-year development. This could also be a (local?) high-major transfer who gets stuck in a roster squeeze and wants to step into a leading role at a strong mid-major. A developmental big man to slot in behind Skogman, Hardnett, and Zaakir is a must as well. Keep the pipeline going, redshirt even. Could also see an experienced backup transfer here. I'm not trying to restart the recruiting debates of the past year or imply that we're behind schedule, just trying to start the conversation re: what will be a crucial class in maintaining our program's momentum after hopefully another big year. We'll need 7-9 new guys and a number of contributors in that group. Hoping folks have some intel or ideas about potential targets/JUCOs/Canadians?/local guys who might want to transfer home. Go Bulls!

  12. Do I preach the moral victory or take a tough love stance? From the under 4 minute timeout in the 1st half to the 5 minute mark in the 2nd half we were step for step with Michigan. It’s those other minutes where we have to learn and grow from. Those were the frustrating minutes bc we all expect and know we are capable of more. I wanna win every game but at the same time I look at the non conference as the time to prep for the conference season. All that said we need to shoot better. That isn’t a one game sample. That dates back a few years now. Our perimeter shooting hasn’t been good. And we need to tighten up on defense. There were a lot of instances of defenders getting lost on cuts and screens. Game one of a long season, lots to be optimistic about. One thing I’d like to note…we need more minutes from our bench. Specifically the backup PG…Rondo can’t play 38 minutes every game. The quicker we get guys involved and settle roles and minute distributions, the better we will be. I could go on but I’ll just be repeating what others have said.

  13. Winnable if they hit a few more 3s. The 3s looked rushed to me, maybe make one more pass to get better look. In my opinion Jeenathan may have been tired or JH told his team, make someone else beat you. One big difference with WV game, WV ended that year ranked in 80s, Michigan will likely be seeded very high come tournament time.

  14. Maybe Coach Mo gave the pregame speak and said you sleepwalk thru the first half and can just turn it on in the second half

  15. Hope you don’t mind a Michigan fan echoing this sentiment. I was bracing for a really tough game coming into it, then got way too comfortable in the first half. You just kept pushing and gave us a lot to focus on defensively. Williams is a beast and would easily be all-Big Ten first team. Overall this team can be a S16 team with the right matchups. Best of luck the rest of the way, let’s help each other’s resumes! also OP, tell Hunter we love him

  16. Bertram is way to slow, Skogman did well with Dickinson. Granted he’s 7’1 and one of the best centers in the country. Bertram I won’t mind playing limited minutes but they shouldn’t play him that heavily, I think having hardnett out didn’t help that

  17. I didnt mind going away from him at first but it lasted too long Like if you move away from him for a few minutes so he can "rest while on the floor" is one thing but lasted far too long and seemed to avoid him

  21. Terrible last 5 minutes of play holy. Within 5 and making a game of it and once again they fire off bad looks and stop playing defense. Unreal

  23. I'm glad they got the turnovers out of the way during the exhibition. Only 6 so far against #6 feels good.

  24. Also remember ladies and gentlemen this is Michigan we are playing, we are not going to be facing 7 footers and 5 ⭐️ Players in the MAC or any other team we face this season. We will be fine, we have a ton of great players and they just need to settle down on offense and make adjustments during half. We are going to still have a great season mark my words

  25. Lets give Michigan a scare. As the announcers said it feels like a 30+ deficit. Its only 15, a few of those 3s drop this is a brand new ball game

  26. Good offense but bad defense. Missed a block out on a free throw and fouled on a close out blow by.

  27. The defense is what is so troubling to me We are playing the 6th ranked team I expected offense outside of segu/Williams and mballa to look over matched but the defense has been atrocious

  28. I tell you what, you really miss a Perkins in a game like this. He had the quickness to switch and would be strong enough to move Dick off the low block

  29. Not trying to be contrarian but what about their performance tonight has looked good? So far there seems to be a lot of confusion on D on switches and particularly in the paint. We can’t seem to figure out what our defensive assignments are let alone attempting to defend them. I can ignore bad shooting. I can’t ignore bad shot selection, losing players on switches and picks, and fouling three point shooters.

  30. UB has a good looking team this year, but we are playing the #6 team in the country with championship expectations… let’s not be too surprised by this. Just trying to be realistic here

  31. I guess he wasn’t impressed with our dumpster fire.

  32. I disagree, he needs to get us back to a bowl game next year. The MAC is a weak conference and even when down, we cannot play the way we have been. I realize he was given a raw deal to start his career, but the cupboard was not bare. We should have the talent and depth to win the MAC East at the very least. The regression over the year has been disheartening. We played solid against Nebraska, offense struggled. We held our own against Coastal. Then we disintegrate in the 2nd half at ODU and get rolled by Kent, Bowling Green and Miami. Our team lacks discipline and no improvement or ability to adapt to their weaknesses. We need to get back into this next year.

  33. Would anybody notice if WMU or EMU just kinda... disappeared?

  34. I'm biased but I disagree. I thought Ohio looked really sharp. Mark Sears had 27 points on 10-11 shooting with six rebounds and four assists. Xavier transfer and returning Bobcat, Jason Carter had 20 points and 10 rebounds. OU was missing Dwight Wilson with an injury. Don't know what's up with that. One thing obvious watching the game is that Ohio can score well in the halfcourt. They have have plenty of shooters and bigs that can spread the court with their range. Belmont entered as the 2nd ranked mid-major in the country behind Gonzaga according to the Mid-Major Top 25 (flawed poll I understand). That's a quality win for them to open their season.
