Alabama would be nothing without UB7 points

Happy days everybody. Buffalo couldn’t afford to buy out Mo’s contract so we got Bama to do it for us. Roll tide4 points

This reminds me of when Lance was hired. I was playing golf with a fellow who is in the Michigan HS Hall of Fame as a coach. I asked him if he thought a D3 guy could make the transition to FBS successfully. His answer, "A good coach will always be a good coach". I vote for option 2 mentioned previously.3 points

Amongst freshmen playing at least 30% of their teams minutes Sabol and Boldin rank 140th and 157th respectively in PRPG! (Offensive rating adjusted for usage and quality of competition). People are overestimating the demand for the 6th and 7th leading scorers on a 2-15 team. I like them as pieces for the future but I don't see a bunch of high major schools kicking down their doors. Maybe they leave if they want to play a smaller role on a mid/low major that could win their conference, but I don't think we're gonna lose them in a bidding war to a P5 unless they light the world on fire in the last ~15 games https://barttorvik.com/playerstat.php?link=y&minGP=15&yvalue=Fr&year=2024&minmin=30&start=20231101&end=202405013 points

We are all happier with the complete unknown regarding this football program…and maybe losing a bunch of recruits, than another year with Mo.3 points

See ya Mo, don’t let the door hit ya. I agree with the FCS route or the Lance method. This football team really needs a coach to come in whose been a successful head coach at a program somewhere else. Someone who isn’t learning on the job and understands how to lead young men and recruiting/staffing, etc. Obviously the transfer portal is big too so an understanding of that whole process.3 points

This ain't about money. It's about saving face and reattaching himself to a successful brand, which was his entire career strategy before UB.3 points

Heard it on WGR on commute home..good riddance.3 points

My preference is #2. We have good resources compared to where they are coming from, so that should be a step up and they have proven to be able to build a program and win. I'm not ready to go with the untested guy again and just a coordinator/position coach. Oats was a successful HS head coach that won, LL was a successful DIII coach that won. Hurley changed our mentality as a program, but wasn't a great coach. His contribution was bringing in Oats. FLJ was a failed D1 coach who came in, learned from her previous issues and took that program to another level. In our recent history and the most successful time in UB history, the coaches are proven winners in the #1 seat.2 points

If you are in coaching for money you are in the wrong profession. There are things way more important than money like making Western New York a better place by building a winning program at UB in my opinion. UB Horns Up! Go Bulls! Let’s Go Buffalo2 points

Mo's a carpetbagger who talks big and then takes a new job before anyone can realize he's a fraud, goodbye. Thanks for the savings Alabama. Now if we could replace Alnutt before we let him make another hire..2 points

Answer: a coach whose entire resume is built on very short stints and horizonal moves before his bosses can figure out he's a charlatan. This is him retreating and trying to keep his career afloat after laying an egg in three years as a HC. Good riddance Mo. Excited to never hear you attempt to form sentences in real time as you're speaking. Bring in an intelligent, organized, winning FCS/D2/D3 guy with ANY semblance of a modern college offense. Maybe one of the guys who kicked Mo's ass in our buy games with half our talent. I don't care if a coach can recruit the P5 scraps like Mo if his gameplans, coaches, and in-game coaching are awful.2 points

He loves Buffalo and UB, he said it all the time. 14-23 here. Anyone can replicate that...well maybe not, as shown by the basketball team.2 points

I remember you posting that back when LL Cool Coach was first hired. It has proven to be true.1 point

I know you fixed it, but conceded works too. All too often that's what it felt like our offense did when we fell behind. 😅1 point

One characteristic I'd like to see from the next coach is to be a straight shooter, and be honest and transparent when he speaks....and not full of cliches' and coach speak. I've never heard another coach talk and say absolutely nothing as much as Mo did.1 point

I would assume at least with boldin he is more about playing time and opportunity and getting proper or good coaching and even opportunity to play professionally vs money in school I can't imagine say 50k for himself or his family really moves the needle This is actually an interesting thought on recruiting going forward "the psychology of recruiting in the NIL era"1 point

Seems like there aren’t a whole lot of people saying anything to the contrary right now. Usually you see some former players come out and congratulate a coach on their new job, doesn’t appear this has happened or will happen.1 point

I predict same thing as basketball coach. Because we have no “NIL” collective, it’ll take 5-6 offers to get someone in here.1 point

The best part of today was the lack of a complete collapse to start the 2nd half. That was good to see and we kept answering up to the end.1 point

I have nothing bad to say about this game, considering where they're at so far, except that they fizzled down the stretch. I didn't think they had it in them, but they kept answering Toledo all second half. There was an overall greater level of intensity and competitiveness tonight. It hurts to lose it late but they played with confidence. Baby steps. Adams - he's been lackluster lately so he really stepped up tonight. Chatman - as I keep saying, he scores a lot of points but seems to miss shots at the worst possible times in the game. Fulcher - is getting better at using his speed to get to the net Sabol - he made some fired up plays defensively, which is a good development Boldin - plays big If they play like this they can beat some teams near the bottom of the league. There are plenty of times where they deserve our criticism - going on the road and playing Toledo even until the last 5 minutes or so isn't one of them.1 point

Better than a post every 700 days! Welcome back, interesting time to talk UB sports for sure. I hope we don't need any NIL for these freshmen because we don't have any. We should be able to hold Sabol but Boldin is doubtful imo.1 point

Yes, the board was very toxic during the BullsEye era. I'll try to keep up and average almost a post per day.1 point

This must be a very important post because 8 posts in 19 years is legendary.1 point

No but remember what I said over a decade ago the knock on UB athletics department is it is a state school. The St Bonaventure Bonnies are private so you have to work harder to turn over every rock so to speak to raise money. UB culturally are protected by mother New York State so you don’t have to turn over every rock to raise money like your school staying open relied on it. It’s a lazy New York, California state mentality why communism fails over capitalism. It’s why New York State and California are losing population today. The state can’t be everything for everyone it’s not possible money gets stretched no new money is coming in and you end up a mess. You need to work for it that becomes a problem at UB where athletics employees are too comfortable in their jobs for life because of tenure just doing enough but nothing more than just doing enough. Private schools are a completely different animal you can be fired if there is no money or you aren’t carry your weight bringing in new revenue streams in my opinion. UB Horns Up! Go Bulls! Let’s Go Buffalo1 point

Agreed at least UB gets $750,000 from Alabama for that phony head coach that never really made a effort to engage with Western New York community completely the wrong hire for UB Bulls football always with one foot out the door in my opinion. UB Horns Up! Go Bulls! Let’s Go Buffalo1 point

I agree it was pretty obvious Maurice Linquist should never have been hired with zero head coaching experience to begin with in my opinion. UB Horns Up! Go Bulls! Let’s Go Buffalo1 point

Once NIL became official, academics started to matter less. Athletes are now going to college for money (even though they are already receiving scholarships and stipends on top of it).1 point
