You expect nice things but seems like more than needed. Also interesting these was all ready as soon as it was announced. Is someone working damage control? Would love to know the true timeline. if nothing else tell me this has been in the works for weeks and the leaks were all untrue…lie to me if you have to.
MuchMany
Really like the hire. Always preferred a high major assistant route to the low-major head coach. I hope he'll be able to bring us into the modern age with his experience at Nova.

enrique14150
We'll see how it goes. I learned after the football team got Jeff Quinn, who seemed to check all the right boxes when he was hired, not to judge a hiring too soon. I'm glad they got someone who wants to be here. admin
Great hire. Villanova has done a tremendous job of developing players. They play sound basketball with the jump stop and players under control. We also get automatic connection to all the NBA players including Brunson, Hart, Bridges among others. this is exciting.
DooleyBull06
Just when I thought we couldn't get any dumber, we go and do something like this... and totally redeem ourself! Seems like a grand slam hire. Sounds like he’s got ringing endorsements and the history. All that’s left to do is hit the ground running as a coach. Let’s get it! New era. Go Bulls! 2

Ubbulls84
Looks like a great hire and coming from the best pedigree you can get in college basketball under Jay Wright. Considering where we were a couple days ago this is a slam dunk! Time to get back to being relevant again in college bball. Was so frustrating watching this team under Whitesell last couple years, cant wait to see what is to come!

xDerekRx
I really like this hire. Despite some embarrassing mis-steps, great outcome. Also nationally we are getting good pub right now in the news wire. Novas prestige doesn't hurt!
xDerekRx
Honestly this hire is so good. It makes you think it was their first choice... So part of me almost wants to believe that a lot of the other stuff was rumor. I almost like him over anyone else anyway

Then McCollum came in for a personal boost with little intention of signing. Calhoun probably had a brief conversation and Rob Jones probably the same. Don't think Saddi Washington or Kenya Hunter were involved. Halcovage likely came in after Cohen and McCollum and was involved from then on. He has recruited, developed, and mentored our players with passion. George is a great leader and basketball mind. We'll miss him and Lizzy. The University at Buffalo is getting a creative, committed Head Basketball Coach. " Jay Wright (CBS / Former Villanova MBB Head Coach) "George and I both came to Villanova in 2008 and we have grown up together in this business. As a coach he is an outstanding tactician and superb recruiter whose efforts were instrumental in this program's success. On a personal level, he is a great friend, a brother, who will be an amazing head coach at the University of Buffalo. We are thrilled for George and Lizzy as they begin this new chapter of their lives." Kyle Neptune (Head Coach Villanova Men's Basketball) "Coach G is a great leader and basketball mind. He is more than prepared to lead UB Basketball and represent New York! At Villanova he had constant dialogue with his players and was always focused on doing what it took to help me become the best player I could possibly be every single day. I have great confidence that he will thrive as the Head Coach at UB!" Jalen Brunson (New York Knicks / Villanova MBB Alum) "I have had the opportunity to watch Coach George Halcovage the past 10 years and I have no doubt he will do an incredible job at The University at Buffalo. George had a hand in every aspect of the Villanova Basketball program as an assistant coach to Jay Wright. He is a tremendous floor coach and tactician with a network of contacts that will help UB build an elite program in the MAC. George possesses the ability to communicate and connect with players while understanding that the role of a head coach is not only to win games but help build a bridge for players to cross after graduation. I look forward to following his and UB's success." Seth Greenberg (ESPN / Former Head Coach Virginia Tech) Source We were not getting this type of press from any other candidate.

BasketBull
22 years sitting behind Boeheim and winning one championship got Hopkins the Washington gig (and his success is admittedly up for debate). I’ll take 14 years under Jay Wright over 22 years under Boeheim any day.
