  1. It’s a new year and one that seems to obviously be getting a good deal of hype. This is very much Jim’s team, hopefully the team can meet its expectations on paper. That said, what are you hoping to see (besides obviously wins)? Here’s a few from me: 1. Someone develop into a defensive stopper. Hopefully one of the younger guys. This team has lacked that. Mballa is great around the rim but we’ve had a devil of a time the last few years slowing our opponents best player in a guard dominated league. Turner is gone, LCJ is gone. But inevitably it’ll be someone new. Need a stopper. 2. Free throw shooting. Think we all know. 3. We have 1 Junior who plays in Hardnett and 1 Sophomore we expect to play more (but hasn’t really yet) in Skogman. Gosh we need some player development from the young guys quickly. Skogman especially. 4. Someone who wants the damn ball. In crunch time when we needed a bucket, nobody has seemed to want the ball like CJ Buckets used to, to provide the knock out punch. 5. Brewton to be a respectable threat from outside. It can open up so much. 6. Another solid class for next year. 😁

  3. I’m going to be ballsy and pick Buffalo to go 24-7 (15-5). I watched UB practice yesterday and this team looks special. They have the most depth they’ve had since Oats was leading the way. Maceo Jack should be an impact player and I like some of the other newcomers and young talent. They’re well rounded and have some decent shooters in the mix. Love the schedule. A few tough road games and a neutral site tournament. It’s set up for Top 50 NET season.

  4. Lol I called them high school teams. But to your point about 23-6…if we do that, as the season unfolds everyone’s expectations will become championship or bust. There’s gonna highs and lows so expectations can change accordingly.

  7. Looking forward to Mballa, Williams and Segu’s senior year, as well as Brock’s senior citizen year.

  10. Looking very sharp so far against a very strong D2 Daemen...Summer looks healthy and has definitely improved her jumper. Transfer Camp looks very good...will have a big impact. Christie also looks back to 100%. Should be a solid 9-10 player rotation and a tremendous rebounding team.

  11. I believe that should be a Summer Fair.

  12. The trio of segu williams mballa is one of the better trios in the country, the key will be the depth. If there is depth this team can be special, if the depth is similar to previous couple seasons you are looking at a very good mac team

  13. For me (I agree with what you said, but it’s still just pre-season) the most important thing Today is that WSoc beat BGSU in the semi-final.

  14. This is the interesting point. The consensus seems (from how they have been ranked to something as simple as this poll) to be that they have a lot of talent (and senior talent) and the low - mid 20s for a win total is the expectation. That's a high bar that calls for few off nights. If Whitesell can deliver that, I think he will have passed a hurdle. The tournament is sometimes a crapshoot, but going there with a 23, 24 or 25 win team would be a good thing. If they are in the upper teens in wins (which would be disappointing from the consensus), go to the tournament and win, that would be a very unlikely scenario on my view. I would take it as well.

  15. I agree with you that if we get 25 wins, and lose a heartbreaker finals...will be extremely disappointing, but not a sign by itself that Whitesell should go. Similarly if they go 17-12 and then get hot for 3 games, not a reason to say we have a great coach...but...I am certainly happy to be in ncaa tourney.

  16. Does not change your point, but we were talking about win total excluding high school games. As for your point on the MAC championship, this should definitely be the team's goal. However, at absolute best, I would say favorite is 50/50 to win, so I wouldn't say season is failure if we had 23-6 record, but lose in the final. I would be certainly be disappointed though.

  17. Game damn 1 and already ridiculous covid bs. Unreal. Instead of a solid opponent for an exhibition, we get a high school team.

  18. He apparently had a deeper connection with the coach than the school. Not a Bull imo. We should move on.

  19. That’s good company, hopefully we play to this level. I think we are going to be very good and the veterans will be ready at the starts of games to get momentum on our side

  20. That’s not necessarily the truth… The game is won or LOST in the trenches….. Jaret who I LOVE and blessed to know him as a football player and more importantly YOUNG MAN… out of the 4 backs from last years wasn’t the fastest back more like 3rd in a 40’yard dash.. His vision and balance is what makes him special… UB last group of coaches claim to fame was Identifying potential and developing lineman… It’s crazy to think you can lose the best lineman in the MAC and one of the best WR’s and LB hire a coach late and expect the teams flow to remain the same, IF you know football… Not to mention EVERY MAC program but us got better thanks to the portal… Mo wasn’t afforded that opportunity because of the time of the hire. What i can say is Mo’ will have a opportunity to get some players he’s comfortable with next season…I’m making a prediction here and now we will win the MAC next year!! college competitive athletics is about RECRUITING and this group will be the BEST group of R/C that WNY have ever seen….🤘
