  1. You were around last year when the team lost to Holy Cross, but weren’t around for the bowl win against a decent Georgia Southern team (that beat Nebraska). Or the come from behind win against Toledo. Join us in the good times too, not just the bad times 🤘

  2. And we have 2 of the best local players coming in next season too

  3. Adams sat out the Iona game with an injured ankle that he hurt against Louisiana.

  4. Burke gets her first Big 4 sweep. As Rana Elhusseini dribbled out the clock at the end, with less than a second to go there was a Bona player who tried to steal the ball. Looks like we should run up the score next time.

  5. Spot on. No D. Turnovers city. Just running around. No fire. Nothing. I've never seen d1 teams give up such easy baskets possession after possession. A missed switch, not moving your feet happens, but literally not every possession. These guys are wide open, both under the basket and outside. It's crazy. Is it possible to have the worst D and highest turnover % in D1 on the same team? This is absolutely trending towards it. I'm just shaking my head here as I watch this. It's like watching a very, very bad high school team that is coached by the social studies teacher in their last year of teaching versus the top team in the region. I said "over 3.5" Mac wins the other day. Boy was I wrong.

  6. Cage posted this on IG this morning. No idea what it's actually in regard to, but with the apparently undisclosed discipline of some of the guys on this trip, combined with the terrible play, something seems off to me.

  7. This is what I don't get, I can handle the ok development and miss reads and other breakdowns that come with freshman and an entire new team This team has zero structure. Zero. No offensive structure and no defensive structure. Looks like a bad intermural game at the triple gym We went from a team that had talent/athletes with no structure to a team that looks devoid of both

  8. I assumed that, and I'm not going to rip the guy too much. I'm sure he knows what the problems are here. But one thing is for sure, Mo cannot come back next season with an offense like this. Snyder regressed, the QB rotation thing was a joke. Mo needs to spend every second of his time and resources on finding a viable QB, or QBs and add some speed to the offense. If he has to do that through the transfer portal so be it. Whatever it takes. We see QBs at the FCS level all over the place that are way better than what we have at UB.

  9. Just read freshman Alexis Davis was originally a Bonnie commit reopening her recruitment after they let go of the coach. Hope she show out with another double double

  10. Buffalo Bulls basketball is a lost cause this season. And if George Halcovage doesn’t get some NIL money from the UB alumni to go into the transfer portal to acquire some real basketball players with experience that can play next season will be a lost cause to. The choice is up to the UB alumni if they can raise NIL money for basketball if not the crap show will continue that is presently UB Bulls basketball it’s as simple as that in today’s Division I college sports. Other than Niagara Purple Eagles UB Bulls basketball is one of the worst in the Buffalo Big 4. Look at where UB basketball was 5 years ago and now it’s a mess. Jim Whitesell looks like John Wooden compared to George Halcovage. We are seeing why so many other programs passed on George Halcovage way over his head. We went from Bobby Hurley to Nate Oates to Jim Whitesell to this crap. I don’t want to hear ever again from UB alumni that UB Bulls are too good for the Buffalo Big 4. UB Bulls basketball is no better or worse than anyone else in the Buffalo Big 4 in my opinion. UB Horns Up! Go Bulls! Let’s Go Buffalo

  11. They got really good (for the MAC level). Like Icarus, they flew too close to the sun and the wings melted off. The price of winning at this level is turnover, and keeping all that going is not easy. The only in-between is to be good but don't win trophies - Reggie's teams here, or Kowalczyk's in Toledo. This isn't an indictment of anyone, it isn't an "I told you so", it isn't for or against any of these previous coaches - it just is. You get good, and win, and you have to start over, and it isn't a guarantee that it will continue. This applies to every team, UB isn't special/brilliant/stupid. The lesson is: enjoy every minute of those highest points that you can, while you can, because they will be fleeting by their nature. I know I did - I still have the confetti I picked up on several occasions on the floor in Cleveland. I'm hopeful/confident we'll be back again, I'm just not sure when. One can both be shocked and appalled at what this team looks like right now, AND realize that any coach's project gets several years to see if it matures. I can't extrapolate what this program will look like in 3 years yet, but I can say this team currently doesn't look like one that's going to win many, if any, games this season.

  12. Keep in mind the coach is learning too. Give him a break and give him some tips and tricks and we’ll see a great team in a few years.

  13. Taking a look at Big 4 Women's basketball sweeps 2023-24: Buffalo 2022-23: No Sweep 2021-22: N/A (Buffalo won vs Niagara/Canisius, DNP Bona. Bona beat Canisius in their only Big 4 game) 2020-21: N/A (Buffalo won vs Bona/Canisius, DNP Niagara. Niagara did not play any Big 4 games) 2019-20: Buffalo 2018-19: Buffalo 2017-18: No Sweep 2016-17: Buffalo 2015-16: Bona 2014-15: Buffalo 2013-14: Bona 2012-13: Bona 2011-12: Bona 2010-11: Bona 2009-10: Bona 2008-09: Bona

  14. I agree with your points and it's also worth noting that Wichita State has a megadonor in Charles Koch. Supposedly Koch money was funding Gregg Marshall's salary, and was basically the reason they were able to keep him from jumping ship to a larger program (prior to his resignation). He was being paid $3.6 million back in 2020, his final season; today, even without factoring inflation, that'd put him as the 20th highest-paid coach in the country (per this link, for what it's worth). That's the kind of money Oats is getting from Alabama; in fact, when Alabama almost poached Marshall, Charles Koch and other business leaders pooled together funds to nearly double his salary and put him in the top 10 of coach salaries, to keep him at Wichita State. I know UB has donors, but I'm not sure UB has THAT level of donor. Charles Koch is the 22nd richest man in the world, per Wikipedia.

  15. Bc football leads the way. Football is the driving force. Football pays the bills for most athletic departments.

  16. It definitely got chippy at the end. These ladies are tough and gritty. When they get in a groove, they are very fun and we have multiple scoring threats. I really enjoy watching them.

  17. That was a great game, got blitzed early by some hot Bonnies shooting but weathered the storm. Really terrific second half and they closed it out. This team is tough and fiery. I'm impressed so far. Let's see if we can keep this rolling!!

  18. I noticed Adams was not in the box score today. Obviously, I don't know what is at the crux of any disciplinary actions, but if it is a sincere attempt to guide players toward what is important, then I hope the coaching staff gets through to the players. I think what we are seeing on the court, has an element of team mindset. I know that Adams is capable of playing better than he has.

  19. We (UB Bulls) got rolled by Iona Gaels MAAC with no Rick Pitino who is at St. John’s. Congratulations UB Bulls basketball has fallen worse than Canisius Golden Griffins Reggie Witherspoon. I have see enough to know George Halcovage isn’t ever going to be the answer for UB basketball the Jim Ward of college basketball completely clueless. I think UB Bulls athletics needs to have sort of an intervention like when Reggie Witherspoon took over again North Carolina Tar Heels in season. I understand it was different issues with the NCAA rules violation. But my point UB and UB athletics can make such a move if they care. Make UB alum Turner Battle interim head coach on a trail basis until UB athletics can have another national coaching search in my opinion. UB Horns Up! Go Bulls! Let’s Go Buffalo

  20. A bad stretch, but I imagine once that bad stretch happens the other team let's up, plays deep bench players etc

  21. I have to be honest. I don't care about the metrics. Do the following, please: Play defense, hard and as a team Crash the boards Stop turning the freaking ball over Do those 3 and it will be a bearable and watchable experience. Even if they shot 15% a game, I could at least watch that team and not be embarrassed.

  22. I've been joking with my buddy who I share seasons with that he should go back, get his MBA and run point. He's 36 but was a pretty slick local HS PG. It's becoming less of a joke by the game.

  23. Good. Hopefully by the time Mo's contract is reconsidered it won't be ADMA picking the next HC.

  24. They were missing their starting PG so we matched up well against them because we also don’t have a PG

  25. Adewale, Panzo, and Gordon were all recruits UB was involved with. They’ve scored 15 points, UB has 9 at the under 8

  26. Glad I'm not watching On a side note how bad is Louisiana to have only beaten UB by 8

  27. I just can’t believe that we are as bad as we are. We are legitimately one of the worst teams in D1 basketball. What a fall from grace.

  29. Originally none of us had less than 5 wins by the looks. I certainly drank the Kool Aid and was looking for a very good year and competing for a Championship. I will admit that I was duped. At least for basketball I wasn't expecting much this season.

  30. I've got the game muted so I can't confirm, but 506sports says it's Dustin Fox. He's a Cleveland sports talk personality and bounced around a few years in the NFL, including a stint with the Bills.

  31. This team is so bad, Mo deserves to be let go. I know it's not happening, but he deserves it.

  32. More plays like that please (referring to Snyder’s 37 yard pass to Harding, not the fake punt)
    1 point
  33. Perfect encapsulation of season. Snyder scrambles when all he needed to do was stay in the pocket. What the heck was he doing? Awful call or blocking or both on fake. Need a different QB since he has no real confidence playing. And then when we bring in the other QB they stack line since they know he isn’t throwing

  34. Truth be told, I am shocked and disgusted that we are one of the worst teams in the Country. I'm sure we lose to a good handful up of D-2 teams too. Who saw this coming? I don't need to look at any of the metrics.....it looks bad all the way around....coaching, offense, defense, recruiting and fan support.

  36. Good post. I only take issue with "you have to start over," even though I don't think you meant it as "start from scratch." JW and staff had as advantaged a head start and as harmonious a transfer of power that anyone could ask for at this level. The game was on easy mode. Sure, there were always going to be some fans who would grumble when they inevitably didn't reach the heights of 30-win seasons and Rounds of 32 that Oats did. But there was a real opportunity to continue establishing sustained success here. JW was handed the best roster in the MAC, the most momentum in program history and in any WNY program since the 70s, and a fanbase that was becoming a real thing. But he failed to recruit, simple as that. There were far too many strikeouts and empty classes. The roster rotted from the inside out and honestly the player development with the guys that did come was bad too. It's impossible to say how a different coach would have done post-Oats, but I don't think it was inevitable that we'd sink to where we are now. I am squarely in the "knew it wouldn't be forever and enjoyed every moment" camp, but this is hard to deal with right now. We'll see where GH3 takes the program, but my frustrations remain with JW, his staff, Malik Zachery, Chanse Robinson, Savion Gallion, David Nickelberry, Keishawn Brewton, and on and on.

  37. Is it a lack of talent or a lack of coaching? I though Mo's thing was recruiting? Didn't we collect a bunch of players with stars next to their names? I look at this offense and and ask why is it so basic? Why do they run the same set of plays over and over? Why is it so conservative? IMO coaching is failing these players.
