Wow, if this is true....  What head coach takes a coaching assistant position, even at an blue blood program??  So here we go again, looking to replace a head football coach late in the offseason.

Answer: a coach whose entire resume is built on very short stints and horizonal moves before his bosses can figure out he's a charlatan. This is him retreating and trying to keep his career afloat after laying an egg in three years as a HC.

Good riddance Mo. Excited to never hear you attempt to form sentences in real time as you're speaking. Bring in an intelligent, organized, winning FCS/D2/D3 guy with ANY semblance of a modern college offense. Maybe one of the guys who kicked Mo's ass in our buy games with half our talent. I don't care if a coach can recruit the P5 scraps like Mo if his gameplans, coaches, and in-game coaching are awful.

Mo's a carpetbagger who talks big and then takes a new job before anyone can realize he's a fraud, goodbye. Thanks for the savings Alabama. Now if we could replace Alnutt before we let him make another hire..

Fortunately, it's not that late in the offseason.  Still January.  Beats the hell out of April.

UB football coach Maurice Linguist to resign, join Alabama's staff

UB's athletic department said in a statement that a national search has already started for the next Bulls football coach, and that Alnutt's statement was the only comments the athletic director would make, at this time.

Two sources told the News that Linguist met with UB's players Tuesday to inform them he was leaving. One recruit, who asked not to be identified, said he had not yet been informed of Linguist's departure.

UB's athletic department also has not publicly named an interim head coach, and has not said whether it will release recruits from National Letters of Intent.

Yeah let's hold the incoming players hostage. Great idea.

I mean before you release them at least name an interim, let the school speak with them first then you should release them

Side note is alnutt on the way out? Seems like a strange move, would be one thing to be a coordinator another as a defensive assistant

Sean Lewis left Kent for the OC job at Colorado last year, and already parlayed that into the HC job at San Diego State. But at least he made that decision right after the season ended.

Thanks for nothing, Mo.

Kind of don't blame him for leaving. Alabama assistant to the assistant coordinator job probably pays more than our head coaching position.

This ain't about money. It's about saving face and reattaching himself to a successful brand, which was his entire career strategy before UB.
