  1. I saw this, and wanted to leave it alone, but now that it's here... Find me one place where Bonaventure is ranked higher or more selective than UB. One. It's okay to admit that you paid more for a less prestigious degree. How many people have we put in space? How many Nobel Laureates have we had teach here? How many Fortune 500 CEOs are part of our alumni base?

  3. Here is a Bonafan quote from after the game that just makes you feel sooooooooooooooooo good about this win! 😆 There is no point in the existence of UB. You would get the exact same education from listening to lectures on youtube. They print out 50,000 diplomas a year and frequently win their high school level league and still can't get anyone to care unless it's free t-shirt night It's a soulless commuter state school that no one on Earth cares about. The only people that wind up there are international applicants that don't realize they're not going to NYC who become shitty pediatricians and local pizza shop employees/bar backs who have to sign up for 6 credits a semester so they can continue to live rent free in the house their mom kept in the divorce. UB is inherently transactional and irrelevant even to its own alumni. An embarrassment to what higher education should be. Free Lester.

  4. How absolutely fucked would we be if Mballa did not get a waiver to play this year? He is a core part of this team, especially on defense. Great win by "Geneseo's safety school" now let's take care of MAC play and Cleveland.

  6. 7 and 7 for Mballa right now. Plus he put the bigs of SBU in foul trouble on his own What a beast.

  7. Hey, Oats would have if Niagara didn’t throw a fit and refuse to play us.

  8. Congratulations. You have a good team. We had the best player, you had the best team. I think you guys have a decent chance to win the MAC.. It was a good atmosphere and fun time (except for the outcome) This is not to trigger anything as some of my posts are, but is there ever any consideration of getting rid of football and trying to join a conference like the Atlantic 10? Playing teams like VCU, Dayton, and Davidson is fun. The teams from the A-10 would be a lot better draw than your MAC slate. You would also have a natural rival built in. Is football giving you enough to justify the expense? Just asking. I will let you guys discuss and i will be back again next year. Go Bills!

  9. I'm always amused/perplexed by the constant need at Bona/Canisius/Niagara to say that "SUNY" is a put-down. I've never felt that way, and UB has the national rankings to prove otherwise.

  10. Mballa is a beast. Having him, Williams, and segu all play well for a lot of minutes this year is great. Solid core for the next 3 years.

  11. Also, I'm not all that convinced that the A-10 is that great anymore. At the end of last year, the RPI rankings had the MAC 9th and the A-10 11th. Most teams that get good in the A-10 have swiftly moved on somewhere else. I don't think it's what it used to be.

  12. Great game yesterday. It should be pointed out that UB and Niagara did not play each other last year. I don’t want to say that the Purple Eagles couldn’t have won, if they had played...however, there was a probability of 99.99999% that the Bulls would have won.

  13. Oats was building something special. There was real momentum. His leaving was a set back. Hopefully this team will get better and play exciting basketball the rest of the season perhaps winning the MAC tourney. That more than anything by continuing the programs success will do more than anything to bring more fans and loyal fans. Before with Reggie team was usually a non contender with a couple of exceptions over his tenure. Combine that with playing MAC teams there was little opportunity to grow the program and build a winning culture and tradition. After Reggie we’ve seen consistently and unprecedented success. That’s what it takes.

  14. She got scratched just above the eye/outer edge of eyebrow (looked like while going after a rebound/loose ball - I forget which, no foul, came down on D pointing to the ref that she was dripping blood and then the ref blew the whistle once Dartmouth secured an offensive rebound and wasn't in imminent position to score).

  15. Really excited about what I've seen from Mballa, Segu and Williams this season. As frustrated as we have been about the play of some of the upperclassmen, there's a lot to be hopeful for with these guys getting better. I didn't expect to see Mballa doing what he's been doing so soon. He's held his own against some great big men this year. I'm most excited about what we're seeing from Williams now. He's looking like he's taken the next step. He seems like he understands his role in the offense so much better this year. He's now good enough from 3 that the opposing team has to respect them, and he's becoming a terrific slasher who is starting to realize how he needs to move his body to avoid charges. Possibly more important, he's not a liability on defense. Segu I think deserves more minutes and I know he has to be fresh to spell Jordan but I feel like he's a good enough defender and a ++ offensive player that would do more good than harm in late game situations. We're hypercritical of this team because our expectations of what good basketball looks like are based on the greatest run in UB Men's basketball history. In reality they're still likely a top 5 UB team of all time and should have every opportunity to show how good they are in MAC play.

  16. That was a huge win! That looks like a team that can win the MAC.

  17. What was amazing is that he actually forced the shot up. No awareness of the game situation! What UB needed there was to burn clock not take a contested shot with few seconds off the shot clock.

  18. I'll take it! We didn't start or finish this game well at all but did enough good things overall to get the W. Great to see Graves looking like his old self and Mballa was huge in the paint, especially taking Osunnyi out. It may have been ugly, but a clean sweep of WNY teams is always a beautiful thing!

  19. Well they nearly collapsed at the end but did just enough to survive.

  20. Wow. The ending got tight and we tried to give it away. Aside from that this was a great win. We got punched in the mouth at the start but found some toughness and pulled this out. Obviously still things we gotta clean up but a great win.

  21. My bad for assuming 12 point lead with 90 seconds wasn't over with this UB team. It was a 99.2%. Remarkable.

  22. Just another weird comment. B-ball games aren’t over with that much time left.

  24. Super nice win, that was a really bad first 12 minutes but a great final 28 minutes. They needed this one after that really bad Dartmouth/Army home losses

  28. We have to figure out a way to stop Lofton and Welch in the second half. Welch checked back in and they went on a run. Must play better D.

  29. Early noticeable thing...Bona is more disciplined than us on both ends.

  30. My key to the game is to score more points that St. Bonaventure. If we do then we will win.

  31. I don't consider this a "pick off" when a guy leaves to go coach at his alma mater. Pretty much any coach would leave their position to coach at their alma mater. Best wishes to him.

  32. I don't know - he shot 2/3 from FT line, maybe the Bulls should try this!
