BrooklynBull
UB is tied for 36th this week in the writers' poll. They got one vote for 25th in the nation. They are tied with Central Florida. https://www.espn.com/college-football/rankings/_/poll/1/week/12/year/2020/seasontype/2

There is was a time where our basketball and football teams were both either in the top25 or getting votes.
TML1000
If about a dozen games per week get cancelled between now and December 18th, we will definitely be ranked going into the MAC championship.

Seems reasonable, although between MI and NY, UB would probably be one of them!

promotherobot
So if we win the MAC and go 7-0 will we crack the Top 25? Has UB Football ever been ranked?

Has UB Football ever been ranked? I think it would be close. Liberty and Coastal still play, SJSU and Nevada will meet, so that will knock off some undefeated teams. Marshall has a light schedule so they will likely stay top 25. Have to hope for more 2 loss AQ conference teams too. One bowl projection has us playing Coastal, so if that came to pass and we beat them we'd definitely finish 20-25th. I think the most votes we ever received were 9 in the 2018 Coaches Poll. In '96 we were tied with App State for 25th for one week in the 1-AA poll.
zigo230
Don’t we still have a game at Ohio? that’s always a house of horrors. and they had a tough game cancelled so that would be for the division i guess. A win there and i can have a Top 25 discussion
TML1000
Ohio also has Kent in week 6...so even if we were to lose next week, an Ohio loss to Kent would still give us the division.

121Merrimac
I’d almost rather Ohio didn’t get the extra motivation, that they have a chance to beat a top 25 team next week. I’d be fine with the first team out, feeling undone, and having another big day next Saturday.
UBlearns
56 votes in the AP, good enough for #27 in the country. UNC got 65 votes, and Liberty (#25) with 67.
BrooklynBull
The two votes from last week both put UB at 19. The rest of the votes were 22-25.

promotherobot
#21 Marshall, #22 Washington and #23 Oregon all lost this weekend. Any chance the Bulls sneak into the top 25 despite not playing?
MKBullsfan
A bit unrelated and prob too soon but what are the chances Patterson comes back for his Senior year and most of the line returns? The QBs will be back. I’m thinking with the lack of a full season to show Patterson’s full potential and opportunity to boost his draft stock closer to the first round, he could stick around for next year. Thoughts? If he stays he’d definitely be considered one of the top three backs in the country, most analysts like his game but have him at the 5-10th best range. Definitely would boost his draft stock for sure but with all the attention he’s getting I wouldn’t be surprised if he leaves after the season, especially if UB wins the Mac and goes undefeated

If his poll is indicative of other pollsters as well, they just might do it.
