Leaving now seems like a self-centered, weak and backhanded move. Congrats, you got your money. I for one, don't see him doing similar to nate's rise. If he does, I'll eat crow, but I'd wager against it (and I'm not much of a bettor). The thing is you have to define success based on how Kansas is measuring success. Mark Stoops at Kentucky has it in his contract every time he wins 7 games he gets a 1 year contract extension. The AD at Kentucky has set the expectation of success at 7 games. If Kansas AD is saying win 6 games a year by year 5 and then consistently after that? Then that is something I believe Lance can do. If expectation are 8 to 9 wins a year then yes obviously he will fail to that comparison. Kansas is a rebuild. People seem to like that AD and I am sure he is setting expectations to be a rebuild. Lance has a shot to have success by Kansas standards (if that is their standard)

Seems like they almost have to go with a current staff member, at least on an interim basis, in order to have any continuity (and avoid an exodus). Bill
Just looking at the sentiment from the players on Twitter. It seems they're sad to see lance go but are committed to here and want to keep working. Just my judgement. Here’s marks for example
Tee4three
Could a strange benefit of the new transfer rules be that when a head coach leaves you won't see a mass exodus Since players now can leave really when ever, there isn't any pressure to make a decision quickly after a coach leaves
UB85
I too hate the timing. But I partially blame the decision makers who unfortunately never shared Danny Whites vision for UB sports. Danny unquestionably put us on an upward trajectory even if he rubbed some people the wrong way. Oats was trying to push the White’ vision but a few decision makers slow walked that so it became clear to Oats which Ed to his bolting. Unless and until the White’ vision is embraced and a commitment made to pursue excellence on and off the field we’ll continue to see successful UB coaches bolt f ok r better financial opportunities. In the meantime let’s hope Coach Jack sticks around. 3

They are on the hook for 6 years, good for lance and his agents. At least make them pay 3 years after you get fired.
MKBullsfan
Noticed how both UB and Kansas both play Coastal Carolina this season. Kansas at Coastal Carolina sept 11 and Coastal Carolina at Buffalo on sept 18. Would love to see UB dominate and Kansas lose.

Bill
absolutely horrible. Lance says he thinks he left the program better off now than it was when he came in, yet takes our entire staff now. Now we have to rebuild from the ground up again. Wouldn’t doubt a mass exodus of players. Edited May 3, 2021 by Bill

zigo230
Lance certainly isn't doing the program any favors. He's not only bolting at a weird time but gutting the program by taking staff with him. But i can't say he's doing something unique there. Most coaches take the guys they are comfortable with to the new job. Seems like the sky is falling right now but something will break, and could be even better in the long run. You just never know.
Bill
I think everybody will be put somewhat at ease when a coach and staff is put in place. The fear of the unknown is making everybody up tight definitely (including me). Will be interesting to see who stays and who goes player wise Edited May 4, 2021 by Bill
