Tee4three
Maybe history will repeat itself, the last time a player left a ub scholarship for another mac school it worked out pretty well
UB05
Yikes. Curious what the motive is behind that. Wonder if they promised he’d start or something

skrabukes
The new Navigato.
DooleyBull06
Game on. I hope the students boo the crap out of him when he comes to Alumni. I bet he transfers in a year or two. This is comical.
skrabukes
In the end, it's his option. I'd rather he left before setting foot here, than being here and then leaving. I'd imagine he has a larger opportunity at WMU than here. When looking at the rosters, ours is a bit more robust.
Kevin
So much for the "wanting to stay home" theories. The whole thing was weird from the beginning.

MuchMany
Bizarre. He always had a strange vibe about him. Sure he's a kid, it's his choice, etc etc, but backing out of a signed LOI to commit elsewhere in conference is kinda bush league I'm sorry.
mikescherrer8
I wasn’t buying the staying close to home BS, but for him to go to WMU? Yikes. Something not right in that situation. Don’t be surprised if he doesn’t get many minutes the first couple years and winds up transferring.

We got the better end of that deal though.

He wants to be top dog. I concede being close to home does not appear to have been his motivation, but winning does not seem to have been his motivation either.

As I said before in the spirit of fun, I hope he gets booed a ton when he comes to Alumni. And as others have said...last time something like this happened we landed CJ. And the way recruiting is looking we could be headed towards using that last scholarship for someone under the radar.
BasketBull
Are we entirely sure that his decommit was 100% his choice? His sudden departure from his high school team seemed to be immediately followed by a cooling of the relationship with UB. I wouldn't be shocked to hear there's more to the story.
Tee4three
He also calls himself a big fish in a small pond now at Western Michigan. Is he really that good?

The funny part was when we said this in February we got blessed with the "he just wanted to stay near home, there isn't more here" crowd. 121Merrimac
RE: fish, ponds & winning. I think everyone wants to win. But, I think some want to sustain a winning culture, and others want to create a winning culture. Two very different situations IMO, and both have merit. No ill will from me. Why did Turner Battle come to Buffalo?

Why did Turner Battle come to Buffalo? Do agree. We as fans really do not know all the facts and why players pick a school. Still curious on Western Michigan?? They are losing two seniors and not sure of transfers. They had a losing record in MAC at 6-12 and only averaged 2,000 home attendance. Does he know some of the players or the coaches and we never will know who these players are listening too when making their decision. We will never know with the pandemic and all the uncertain times how this is affecting all these kids on making their decisions. Can only hope we can sign a player that can help us on the front line that can help us both on the offensive and defensive end. Go Bulls!!!! UBlearns
I thought he looked fine. Didn't do anything in particular to put a scare into me, but 6 points/4 rebounds in 22 minutes is a fine line for a true freshman. He didn't look out of place out there. DooleyBull06
Just a freshman in a tough developmental spot trying to find his way. It will be interesting to see his growth during his time at Western. No ill will.
