Bronstein tweeted that neither would start at UB now...silly. Maybe Reese wouldn’t but Hamlet would.

Reese hasn't done much to wow me tonight, but at the very least he'd provide very valuable bench minutes to spell Segu.

Hamlet, on the other hand, would surely start.  He's C-USA POTY, and 2-time 1st team.  He looks like a superstar out there tonight.

Ummmm what? One team is advancing because of them, and the other got bounced in first round in the NIT

He's not wrong. Who would they start over? Would I love to have them here? Heck yeah. There would be the depth that made the big UB teams great. When that team could roll in Perk and Dontay off the bench it'd be no drop off, and improvement for the most part. Allowing the starters (and those 2 guys) of this team to play 28 min fresh vs long stretches where they are forced to take a play(s) off due to fatigue, would change the ohio game and this one (along with many more).

The best player in the conference would start at UB. This one is simple. Reese would have been a 6th-man, another position the team didn't have.

Sure, we pay the current coach $300k, let's bring in the guy who makes almost $2mil. Sounds reasonable.

You mean he used to make $2 million. He got canned and will be looking for any opportunity to bounce back and won’t be getting any P5 offers. Buffalo would look like a dream job to him

Perk was legitimately the top guy on those big teams (along with CJ obviously) and didn't start.

That was deliberate though, we aren't going to claim McRea was better than Perkins right? That was a strategy move.

Hamlet would have been a top 10 player in the MAC and missing piece for UB.

He was an assistant at Duke for 15 years.  He'll land as an assistant at a top program, or maybe the NBA, for a few years before getting another shot at a head job in a big conference.

This is very Perfect. I had the same thoughts today when I saw it happen. The next stage for him is a high level mid major. UB would be a perfect fit for him, but they wouldn't make the move, even if they should.

Both Reese and Hamlet left at a time where we were deep and loaded. Had they waited their turn at UB, last season and this season would’ve been theirs. Specifically Hamlet. Reese would’ve been a key bench contributor. Hamlet a key starter IMO.

I think a head coaching gig at a winning mid-major like Buffalo  is better than an assistant job or an NBA assistant job. If he is successful, he then gets back to P5 no guarantee being an assistant gets him there again.

Yeah I have no idea how you wouldn't think the C-USA POTY wouldn't start at a MAC school.

That was a big loss the staff couldn't keep

To be fair at the time UB was loaded at guard. He was never gonna see playing time. But currently, he definitely would be starter.

Hamlet left in 2018 right after Summer practices before the huge ranked year. He and Reese were on the scout team together all year. I had a chance to speak with Javion.
