I'll lose a lot of respect for Lance if he takes this job. Ask Turner Gill what KU did for his career. There will be better jobs available after 2021.

This is a terrible take. Lance has done an amazing and unprecedented job here. If he feels this will better him and his family, he’s earned it. He’s no Spring chicken and has grinded for a long time. I have nothing but the utmost respect for him either way.

If, when, Lance leaves, whether it’s Kansas or after next season,  I just hope we are forward thinking with the next head coaching hire. Bringing in Lance was a great move. A winning coach who wanted to move up the ranks. I want a repeat of that. Someone who knows that winning at UB while raising their own profile is possible.

Why is this a terrible take? You leave after spring ball for a team that is a historically bad program. Pretty much guarantees this year is a total wash, but the losses will still be on your record. Not to mention it leaves us in a lurch. Just an ugly time to leave for all concerned.

Sets his family up with millions of dollars for generations.

Most recent twitter talk is it will be Monken, so let's see if the scuttlebutt is right, for our sakes.

Regardless of the outcome, Kansas is a trainwreck and completely screwed this up. To bring in a current head coach is just in poor taste all around, but I guess with big time football who cares, just do what you need to do for yourself. Hopefully Lance stays this year and gets an offer from a real school next year and we find a solid assistant on the rise.

I am happy enough to keep Leipold for another season, but what does it say about this guy that he can't even get some of the worst P5 jobs in the country in Illinois and Kansas?

Is just winning a bowl game at Buffalo not good enough?  I am just confused why is he not getting any of these jobs that he is obviously very interested in.

I would really like to see Alnutt come out and offer Lance close to what he deserves after all this (granted he stays). The fact he is only making 500k/year is ridiculous. We were shelling out close to 1M for Oats and we should do the same if not more for Lance if we are serious about becoming a consistent competitive program.

If we are only willing to pay our most successful football coach in D1 era 500k/year then we as fans have to temper our expectations on the ceiling and floor of this program.

He has gotten raises pretty much every year, but yes now that he’s stabilized and grown the program to be consistently competitive it’s time to up our game. A lot comes down to donors too though, I know they had a lot lined up for Nate

I suspect that this will happen, should LL stay, during the next few weeks.

You can see where Lance is on this list.  Towards the top, certainly, but probably would need to move up into the $800k range.

Except for the fact he earned over $680,000.00 last year, per seethroughny.net

500 -700 same difference. The point still stands we were paying Oats more, and if we have any dreams of becoming an elite program we have to keep coaches. You keep coaches by paying them what they deserve. Lance being our football coach for the next 15 years is as valuable as it gets. He should be the highest paid coach in the conference.

*By the word elite I mean, maybe have a shot at moving up conferences in the future and consistently being in the MAC Championship and at bowl games*
